Grades 3 to 5

At DPS, we try our best to make learning a fun filled and fulfilling experience for our children. We facilitate our students with varied learning experiences to enable them to gain knowledge in a free environment. The weekly activities provide opportunities to students to express themselves and prepare them to work as a unit and be team players.  

Curricular Activities Thursday activities comprised of Mathematics and Arabic integrated projects on the theme ‘Animals’. The differentiated activities comprised of paper presentation on solar system, art form – Warli Art, integrating shapes to Islamic architecture, designing Fact Books, research on the emirates and its population and research on density of tigers, to name a few.

Class Assembly

Class Assembly 4-6-13 Grade 4D students presented an assembly on the theme ‘International Family Day’ that included a skit that demonstrated the importance of family and of global unity. The teacher in charge was Ms. Radhika Gupta. ‘Ignited Mind’ award for grade III students was given away during the assembly.

Events – Scholar Badge Ceremony As per the tradition of Delhi Private School, Dubai, this year too, the scholars of Grade 4 and 5 were honored for their outstanding achievement in academics, external examinations as well as co-curricular activities like dance, drama, sports, public speaking, music and art. The ceremony took place on the 20TH of June 2013 in the Multipurpose Hall. More than 200 parents graced this joyous occasion.

“TWABOOR”- (Assembly) DPS Arabic Language Day It was commemorated on June 16, 2013. The attractions for the day included recitation of Arabic Poem, Arabic conversations, Arabic role play, and facts about UAE, group dance for girls and Arabic drama for boys

‘Graffithon 2013’ – an inter school graffiti competition was held in our school on the 5th of June. On this occasion, a charitable contribution was made by the primary wing of DPS Dubai to ‘Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs’. Thereafter a pledge was taken by the student council members of primary school.

 

Father’s Day at DPS Dubai

Father’s Day Celebration for grades V was held on 24 June in conjunction with the PTM. The theme based activities kept the father – child duo occupied and proved to be a bonding time for them. Parents had to choose from an array of activities. Fathers were very happy to come and show case their creativity with their wards. It was heartwarming to watch fathers participate; the pride and joy was reflected on the faces of the young ones.

Swimming Gala 2013-14

Swimming competition for students of grades 3-5 was held at the Sports Complex on 20 June 2013.

Talent Tap

The final round of Talent Tap for grades 3-5 was held on 20 June 2013. The areas included Elocution, Music – Vocal and Instrumental and Dance.

Other Events-

Workshops At DPS Dubai, constant support is provided to the teachers and students to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills.

On 23 June 2013, a dental talk was done by Dr. Javed for students of grade III and IV at Sandeep Hall.

A workshop was held on 4 June to brief teachers of grades III to V on the support provided by the Counseling department to the students. The main aspects discussed were –vulnerable groups, differentiation techniques and general strategies for dealing with students with needs, such as - support with spellings, reading, worksheets, peer support and practical experience.

A workshop on ‘Health and Hygiene’ was conducted by the DHA – Dubai

Health Authority on the 16 and 17 of June for students of grades III to V.

Few of our teachers attended a workshop at DPS Sharjah on “Robotics"

conducted by team from Carnegie Mellon University.

A workshop on ‘Anti Bullying’ was conducted by Ms. Zainab of English department on the 11 of June at Sandeep Hall

PTM – Grades 3, 4 and 5

Most of the parents were satisfied with the improvement of their wards. Level wise teaching in Arabic was welcomed. They enjoyed the Fathers Day and Mothers day celebrations. They also gave suggestions for improvement.

Shastra Pratibha Students from grade 5 had enrolled for this external examination and it was conducted on the 24th of June 2013.

PSA Test - (Problem Solving Assessment) It is a widely acknowledged fact that research and analytical skills, ability to apply basic concepts of different subjects, solve application based problems in Mathematics and Science, comprehend and analyze written text and effective communication are the skills which ensure success in Higher Studies. The PSA tests are aimed at assisting learners in acquiring higher order thinking skills such as Problem Solving and Decision Making. This test was conducted for grades III to V on the 23 of June 2013. The assessment was with MCQs and highlighted problem solving ability for the subjects Mathematics, Science, Social studies and English.

PIE exam - (Proficiency at International Examination)

This exam was conducted for grades III to V on the 16, 17 and 18 of June 2013. The assessment was with MCQs for the three core subjects Maths, Science and English

Math Talent Search Exam

This exam was conducted for grades III to V on the 19 of June 2013.

TRIPS and TOURS

On 13 June 2013, grades III to V were out on a one day trip to different destinations.
