Launching of Green School

Green School was launched on 21 December 2009.

Core group formed consisting of 6 green teachersacross the school.

Green Warriors are formed from among thestudents.

Initiative taken by DPS, Bopal, Ahmedabad

Green School drive is an environment based initiativetaken by Delhi Public School, Bopal, Ahmedabad,Gujarat, with a purpose of bringing an awarenessabout environmental issues and making a community

that is environmentally responsible.

DPS Bopal Ahmedabad have joined forces with Green

Contributor, an organization based in Canada involvedin Global Environmental initiatives since September2010.

Green Contributor

This association has helped DPS students and teachers to be part of

many environmental and research programs and also providing

opportunities to involve the students and the teachers in the project

to travel to North America and Africa. Green Contributor offers

opportunities for students to participate in environmental research

based projects and activities where the students are challenged to

take action in addressing real problems, find solutions that can be

implemented locally and globally, as well as address the environment

sustainability component established under the United Nations

Millennium Development Goals.

educational trip, during May 7 - 23, 2013 under the Green

Contributors' Global Leaders Journey Programme. Visits & interaction with students & teachers of some of thePrestigious Institutes & Universities of USA viz., Harvard andMassachusetts Institute of Technology, Worlds Biggest ScienceCenter, California Science Centre, Cape Cod Academy School, Boston,Diamond Community School at Palm Bay, Florida, Moultrie MiddleSchool at Mt. Pleasant. Visit to Water Mission International.

Certificate Astronauts Training Program at NASA, Florida. Lunch with a veteran Astronaut at NASA, Florida. Visit to United Nations Assembly. Presentations by students on water project and Green School Drive in

schools of US. Performances showcasing the cultural richness of our country

through few Cultural Progammes.

GLOBAL LEADERSHIP JOURNEY, 2012 A group of 37 of students

from DPS, Bopaltravelled to USA, for aneducational trip, duringApril 30 - May 17, underthe Green Contributors'

Global Leaders JourneyProgram.

The trip was aimed at sharing their own environmental projectworks as well as creating an awareness amongst its students,about Local and Global Environment concerns in the US Schoolsincluding their simple and easily adoptable solutions.

Tours for students involve encountering environmental programswhere they interact with experts, researchers, high-ranking

delegates, professionals, leaders and decision makers.

CHARITY @ ZAMBIAA group of high school students from DPS and CalorxPrerna Bopal, Ahmedabad visited Zambia and Kenyafrom May 7 to May 16, 2010 as part of GreenContributor s environmental and educational exchangeprogram and also got an opportunity to meet withrepresentatives from UNICEF, and the Indian HighCommission in Lusaka, Zambia.

SIX BSNL PENTA TABLETS were donated to theunderprivileged children of a school in KapilaVillage, Zambia. The fund was raised by Green Warriors by putting up food stalls on 5 th September,2012 and 21 st December, 2012.

Shelter from Storm Concert at Boston, USA

A group of 8 students along with 1 teacher had theprivilege to perform at the Shelter from Storm Concertat BOSTON.

DPS was the only school representing INDIA along withsix other ASIAN schools.

More than 200 high schools from cape Cod performed inthe concert.

TERI - BEACONDPS BOPAL NODAL SCHOOL

PHASE I: As a part of Green School Drive incollaboration with TERI, The EnergyResource Institute India, a full dayworkshop on BEACON Building EnergyAwareness on Conservation was organized

on 14 th February, 2012 at DPS Bopal for theTeachers of Gujarat. 45 teachers of variousdistricts of Gujarat attended the workshop.

PHASE II : (September 15, 2012), at Ankit Vidyalaya, Kalol,Gandhinagar, TERI conducted a sensitization workshop for students,teachers and parents of the Nodal Schools of Ahmedabad, to appraiseand communicate the importance and manner of adopting measuresrelated to energy conservation and efficient practices, under the

banner of BEACON and TERI.

Green badges are distributed to the teachers and staff related to Earth Hour

Role Model: As a part of our Green School drive we at DPS Bopal welcome

our guest with a sapling signifying our endeavors to protect

and sustain the environment. The green school drivecomprises of a team of students and teachers who pick upenvironmental problems in and outside the campus andevolve possible solutions through activities, researches, visits

Recycling of Paper is been carried out quarterly in the school.The data this year shows a great improvement in theconsumption of paper which has reduced to 70% as most of the data related to academics is uploaded on the schoolportal which can be accessed by the students, parents as wellas the teachers. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle- Kalayatan 2011 An interschool art and craft

competition was organized by theDPS, Bopal, Ahmedabad onAugust 6, 2011, in which 108students from12 schoolsparticipated to showcase their

creative best on the above theme.

Judges Mr. Gorana and Mr. Panchal have been actively working withchildren on environmental issues.The participants were divided into four groups- group A (classes 1-2),

group B (classes 3-5), group C (classes 6-8) and group D (classes 9-10).And a maximum of 10 students could participate from each school.

Our school utilizes the recycled paper inmaking cards for special occasions.

This year we are using the recycled paper inthe form of A -4 size paper.

Canada Day Celebrated

To celebrate Canada Day -1 st July 2011 in India, Manitobatrade & investment India office organizes a tree

plantation campaign. 1000 trees will be planted by 500

school & college students. Each student will own & adopt

1 or 2 plants & take care of the plant. The trees will be

named after the name of the student. Regular health

checkup of plants will be done every 3 months & at that

time students too will be invited to the health checkup.
