DIWALI CELEBRATIONS– STARZ
Festivals bring joy and happiness. The cheer of ‘Diwali’ came alive when the tiny tots of STARZ
celebrated Diwali dressed in colourful dresses. The teachers talked about the significance of the festival
and also sensitized them towards the ill effects of crackers. Children brought sweets and shared with each
other. They also did a colouring worksheet and decorated diyas with the help of their teachers. The day
concluded with a dance party for the students.
TELL A TALE
The wit of Birbal, the righteousness of the Pandavas, the stories of Bikram and Vaital etc. came
alive in Class 3 through the Tell a Tale activity where students enjoyed a trip to their fantasy
world. Each student presented an interesting, moral based story using props etc. They learnt ways
to recite stories, reason behind stories and enjoyed themselves to the fullest. This could be
observed in their smilesand the questions they asked.The stories had a deep moral impact on the
students.
INTRA CLASS BOTTLE PAINTING COMPETITION
“Painting is the silence of thought and the music of sight.”
We believe that art education is an essential part of building a creative mind. The students of grade 5
presented their creativity during the Intra Class Bottle Painting Competition. They turned bottles into
their canvas and presented their ideas using water colours. Their creativity amazed the judges who had a
difficult time picking winners.

WIND CHIME MAKING COMPETITION
Wind chimes allow us to make music from air.They are considered a symbol of good fortune and
prosperity. To encourage art and craft amongst students the school organized a Wind Chime Making
Competition forclass IV students. The students made innovative and fascinating wind chimes using
plastic pipes, shuttle cocks, colourful bangles, beads, bells, keys, CDs and many other ingenious materials
and thoroughly enjoyed this activity

CHILDREN’S DAY AND FUN RACES
Children’s Day was celebrated with a fun filled event for the students of primary wing. They participated
in various fun races and enjoyed themselves. Class 1 participated in a banana and hurdle race, class 2
enjoyed a lemon race while students of classes 3,4 and 5 participated in a sack race. To motivate the
children and add fun to the races teachers also participated in the sack race.
CHILDREN’S DAY
The children of STARZ celebrated children’s day with great joy and enthusiasm. Teachers organized
various Children’s Day activities like fun races, colourful handouts and a fine motor skills activity of
paper rose making to make the day joyous.
JOY IN SHARING
DPSG International celebrated Diwali in the true sense by spreading good cheer and happiness among
some of the underprivileged children of our society. The students contributed gifts in the form of eatables,
Diwali decorations stationery etc. and distributed these among the inmates of Asha Vidyalaya – a
special institutionwhich meets the educational needs of the special children. Students visited the ashram
and interacted with the inmates. It was a heart-touching experience for the students which helped them
develop a sense of empathy and societal responsibility.
SPELL BEE
A Spell Bee competition is a great way to generate interest in spelling and to motivate students to
succeed. Classes 1- 3 students participated in the competition which had various rounds like -
Identification of correct spellings, identification the word from the picture, spell the word, making of
different words from a big word etc. The competition concluded with an audience round.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLYBY 5 LOTUS
“No matter how hard Evil tries, it can never quite match up to the power of Good, because Evil is
ultimately self-destructive. Evil may set out to corrupt others, but in the process corrupts itself.”
Keeping this thought in mind students of Grade 5 Lotus presented a Special assembly on Diwali which
began with theSarvdharamPrarthana followed by the prayer of courage. The students also presented
vocabulary words, thought and news. The students of primary wing presented a dance performance
which depicted Ramayana in brief. A story on listening to your conscience during celebration was also
presented in the assembly. The students discussed ways of celebrating Diwali in an eco-friendly manner.
Principal Ms. Anita Sethi urged students to celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly and safe way. The
assembly concluded with National Anthem.
INTER HOUSEPPT MAKING
To highlight the technological expertise of students, an Inter House PPT Making competition was
organized for primary wing students. They made PPTs on ‘Victory of Good over Evil’ combining text,
graphics and multimedia to support their presentation. The competition was judged by Mr. Sanjeev
Juneja and Ms. Malavika Yadav.

ASSEMBLY – GRADE IV- L
Morning assembly is an integral part of the school curriculum. It is a platform to express our thoughts and
feelings, display the talents of children and impart knowledge to them. Grade IV Lotus conducted an
assembly on the theme ‘Tolerance’ and Constitution Day. The assembly included Sarv Dharam Prathana,
thought, vocabulary word, poem, facts on tolerance, news and National Anthem. Teacher’s talk on
‘Constitution Day’ was delivered by Ms. Babita Pant. The assembly concluded with the national anthem.
INTRA -HOUSE SCENEMAKING COMPETITION
“Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the
human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding.”
To celebrate ICT week, an Intra class Scene Making Competition was organised for classes I - III.
Children used MS Paint software to create the scenes on Indian festivals and celebrations and wrote
impressive slogans for the scenes. They enjoyed the activity a lot and put up a wonderful performance.
ONE NATIONREADING TOGETHER
“The more you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you will go.”
One Nation Reading Together is an annual event, where children in schools across the country spend 30
minutes reading a book on a designated day. DPSGI conducted this event for the students of Primary
wing with an objective to promote reading for fun. Students participated in the activity along with their
teachers to celebrate reading as a pleasurable and enriching experience.
JOY OF SHARING
Our students visited Shri Shri Gyan Kendra, a school at Nathupura, Gurgaon on the occasion of Diwali to
distribute sweets and share happiness with the inmates with a hope that we as a community can help one
another to grow and end social problems. The visit was an eye opener for students, who witnessed the
harsh realities of slum life. Students interacted with the residents and realized the efforts their parents
make to ensure that their life is comfortable. It was a great visit for students that enriched their
knowledge and made an emotional impact.
CLASSROOM TRANSACTION : WATER
“Water is the driving force of all the nature.”
Keeping this in mind students of class 2 learnt and explored various properties and importance of water
in their theme – How We Organize Ourselves.Students spoke about the important properties of water
using many innovative props as a part of their speaking skill assessment. They also performed various
experiments related to the properties in groups and learnt from each other developing their
collaborative skills. They also watched a video on the importance of water.
CALENDAR FUN
“Mathematics is the art of giving the same name to different things.” - Henri Poincare
Keeping this objective in mind, an activity ‘Calendar fun with Math’ was conducted for Grade I. The
students worked in groups and made calendars for the month of December and January followed by
marking special days with symbolic drawings. They were happy to engage themselves and connect with
the real-life application of important days.
ASSEMBLY ONCOMMUNICATION
Communication is the process of passing information from one person to another. Class 3 Daisy organized
an assembly on communicators which began with different prayers of different religions for Guru Purab
and Eid. They also narrated stories and asked morals from the audiences. Teachers’ talk was presented on
International day on Elimination of Violence against women.
VISIT TOGURUDWARA
The school organized a visit to Gurudwara for the children of STARZ on the occasion of Guru Purab. It
was a pleasant and spiritual experience for them as they covered their heads and paid reverence to the
GURUGRANTH SAHIB’. They also diligently participated in the prayers and were delighted to receive
the Prasad. It was an enriching experience for the children as they were enlightened about the Sikh
Gurus and their contribution to the society at large.
ABHYUDAYAM : VEDO SHIVAM
The school celebrated its 10th Annual Day Abhyudayam: VedoShivam on November 23, 2108 in the
school football grounds in the presence of Ms. Kanchan Verma Vice Chairman Ghaziabad Development
Authority. Mrs. & Mr. Pathak Chairman, DPSG Society, Mr. Anshul Pathak Vice-Chairman and
Treasurer DPSG Society and Chairperson DPSG International and Mr. R. K Sharma Joint Secretary and
Director Administration, DPSG Society also graced the occasion with their presence.
The lighting of the lamp was followed by an inspirational song by the school choir. Principal Anita Sethi
welcomed the dignitaries and guests with eco-friendly bouquets and thanked them for their presence on
the occasion. She also presented the annual school report and welcomed the new principal of the school
Mrs. Meera Mathur. Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Meera Mathur appreciated Mrs. Sethi’s efforts in
taking the school to great heights. She stressed that institutions are not made of bricks but of children
who breathe life into themand also shared her vision on taking the institute to greater heights.
A special brochure was released on the occasion by the Chief Guest Mrs. Kanchan Verma along with
Mrs.& Mr. Om Pathak, Mr. Anshul Pathak, and Mr. R.K. Sharma. The highlight of the evening was the
cultural extravaganza Abhyudayam :VedoShivam which sought to arouse the inner SHIV – the inherent
self-worth of every person to incite them onto a journey of self-discovery and success. The students
brought to life the significant events of Shiv Purana through their theatrics and dance which was a feast for the eyes. Senior wing coordination Mrs. Nidhi Narayan proposed the vote of thanks. The event
concluded with the national anthem.
TRAFFIC SESSION -2018
Students of DPSG International participated in the session conducted by Traffic Department Ghaziabad
in the school premises in which traffic inspector Mr. Vimal Singh spoke to the students about road safety
in daily life and sensitized them towards the need of following traffic regulations. The team also
conducted a session with drivers and helpers to update them about latest traffic regulations. The session was conducted as a part of the traffic vigilance month being observed by the Traffic departments all over
India.
“GHAZIABAD RAHAGIRI : EK SATYAGRAH”
Our school participated in the “GHAZIABAD RAHAGIRI : EK SATYAGRAH” programme organized
by Ghaziabad Prashasan& Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam to promote their drive for a cleaner and greener
Ghaziabad. the event was held in the open space next to Gaur Mall at RDC. The students participated in
NukkadNatak& Collage making competition and also planted saplings. The programme also sought to
create an awareness for a pollution free, eco-friendly Diwali.
SURVEY
The school organized a field survey for students of class XII to enable them to understand the problems
faced by slum dwellers in the urban areas. The students visited the slums at Vasundhara sector 13 where
they interacted with the residents and asked them questions regarding their occupation, income, family
members, facilities available, education etc. This survey provided them with an insight into the
difficulties faced by the underprivileged.
CHILDREN’S DAY ASSEMBLY
“The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country.” - Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru To celebrate children’s special day the teachers organized a special assembly which was conducted by
Mr. Sharad Rituraj with a flair putting questions to children to arouse their interest. The prayer of
courage was conducted by Ms. Pooja Bhanot and Ms. Tuhina, Ms. Preeti, Ms. Shiva, Ms. Kavita, Ms.
Deepika, and Ms. Shivpriya conducted the Gayatri Mantra and later also presented a motivational song.
The news was presented by Mr. Anurag followed by the thought for the day which was presented by Ms.
Neeraj. Ms. Babita and Ms. Kavita presented a moral story and a poem respectively. Speaking on the
occasion Principal ma’am wished the children and urged them to follow their dreams and never lose sight
of their goals.
FAREWELL ASSEMBLY
A special assembly was organized by the school prefectorial board as a mark of respect for the outgoing
school principal Mrs. Anita Sethi to bid her a respectful adieu and to welcome the new head of school Ms.
Meera Mathur. The bittersweet event began with the Gayatri Mantra followed by the prayer of courage.
A touching poem on farewells was recited by the students followed by a moving speech by the School
Head boy which summed up the imprints left by ma’am on the sands of time and on the lives of the
students. Speaking on the occasion Ms. Anita Sethi thanked the students for their love and urged them to
continue their efforts towards excellence.
The students also welcomed the new principal Ms. Meera Mathur with a welcoming speech and promised
to continue their efforts to set new benchmarks and scale greater heights. Mrs. Mathur thanked the
students and appreciated their heart-felt efforts. She also urged them to work with renewed vigour and
set new benchmarks with improved Board results. The assembly concluded with the national anthem.
CONSTITUTION DAY & AIDS AWARENESS ASSEMBLY
A special assembly was organized by class XI on the occasion of Constitution Day and AIDS Awareness
Day. The assembly began with the Sarva Dharma Prarthana followed by prayer of courage, thought for
the day and vocabulary word. Students also presented a speech on the need for AIDS awareness,
highlighting the disastrous consequences of AIDS ignorance. Facts related to Constitution Day were also
shared with the students. A poem highlighting the need for AIDS awareness was also recited. The students also pinned red ribbons on teachers’ lapels as a symbol for AIDS awareness.
CAPACITY BUILDING
A 2-day intensive “Capacity Building Workshop for Physics” was
conducted by CBSE on 26- 27 November 2018 at Ch. ChabbilDass
Public School, Ghaziabad. Senior Physics teachers from Delhi NCR
participated in the two-day workshop and learnt innovative
methodologies to improve their pedagogical skills and deal with the
challenges in teaching Physics. The teachers participated in various
hands-on activities and reflected upon their lesson planning and common
misconceptions in various topics of XI and XII and also shared their
teaching experiences. It was an enriching experience as the teachers worked together to imbibe new
learning into their daily class room situations.
CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME ON ‘POSITIVE THINKING’
A one day Capacity Building Programme on ‘Positive Thinking’ was held at DPS Indirapuram to enable
teachers to share ideas and resources for improvement in teaching learning process. It was conducted by
the CBSE, Centre of Excellence for Teachers, Dehradun. The eminent resource persons were Mrs.
Sharmila Raheja and Ms. Kritika Makkar, Principal and Counsellor respectively from Uttam School for
Girls, Ghaziabad. The programme focused on how teachers should help the child build positive attitude
towards life’s challenges and ways of increasing self-esteem, building self-confidence, developing
gratitude and mindfulness to help child lead a more meaningful life were also highlighted. It was an enriching experience.
