should. We pride ourselves on supplying some of the finest
produce in the world. Our rolling wild landscape reflects
freshness, quality and variety. Fresh and local are two
words you’ll often hear to describe the food
available here today. There’s meat, fresh from
the moors around Princetown, fish, fresh from
the trout farm at Tavistock, and fruit and
vegetables picked early morning in the
verdant fields around the villages.
There is a deep rich choice of restaurants on Dartmoor and we hope you might get to enjoy at least some of them during your stay here!
We have restaurants that serve organic food, those that pick their produce from their farm earlier in the day, and those that offer locally produced meat, fish and vegetables at their finest. Delicious vegetarian options, superb wines, decadent cream teas and breakfast that set you up for the day, it’s all here on Dartmoor.
There is nothing better than enjoying a cream tea while basking in the sunshine after a long walk on Dartmoor; all hail our great Dartmoor tearooms. A thirst quenching drink after a cycle ride or an Earl Grey while reading the paper; friends getting together for a breakfast of local food after a night in a bunkhouse or self catering cottage; couples enjoying coffee and home made cake, families refuelling with good natural fayre.
Village pubs, with a warm welcome and roaring log fire to sit in front of after an afternoon spent exploring the magic of Dartmoor, are some of the most popular stop off points on and around the moor!
Whether you’re a local, or a visitor from afar, you will relish the atmosphere, the glorious, locally sourced and home cooked food, and the many drinks that are produced locally!
Many of the Dartmoor pubs love to entertain their customers during the summer months,
with Morris Dancers, barbecues, fairs and shows. Most pubs have in depth knowledge on where to walk, ride or
cycle, as they hear all about it from their customers, so can be very useful sources of information if you are planning an afternoon outing to burn off a hearty lunchtime feast!
Spoil yourself a little, when you’re planning a walk with the dog or the family, make time to visit a Dartmoor pub!
Many of the fabulous hotels on Dartmoor offer superb fine dining in their restaurants, there are pubs where the fabulous food will knock your socks off, menus offering everything you could want from a freshly caught fish and chip supper to the lightest and most delicate of soufflés!
