1. Introduction

Deliverable 2.4 - Final communication and dissemination report - describes the dissemination activities carried out during the project. The activities have been conducted on the basis of the dissemination strategies planned at the beginning of the project and revised at month 24.

2. Communication and dissemination strategy plan

The GARCIA project planned to map and analyse the gender dimension at different organizational levels in various European research institutions. With a specific focus on the early stages of academic and scientific careers, the aim was to implement specific actions for combating gender stereotypes and discriminations. Deliverable 2.1 “Communication and Strategy Plan” has been used as a management tool to help achieving the project objectives. The plan outlined the communication strategy of the project, the timing of the activities to be carried out and the descriptions of the communication products.

3. Revised communication and dissemination strategy plan

The strategies envisaged under the plan have been updated throughout the duration of the project. The dissemination activities have been monitored and the data collected in the first 24 months were used to produce the revised strategy plan (Deliverable 2.2, January 2016).

4. Website

The website hosted at http://www.garciaproject.eu/(Deliverable 2.5) is central for the project communication and dissemination strategy. It is dedicated to the phases, the implemented actions and the results. Events (http://garciaproject.eu/?page_id=58) and Publications (http://garciaproject.eu/?page_id=52) have been updated throughout the duration of the project. The website was set up in July 2014 and the traffic has been constantly monitored through Google Analytics (https://www.google.com/analytics/). Screenshots containing these data can be found in Annex A. At the end of the project (January 2017) the total number of visits is 10.667 and the number of unique visitors is 5.644. Other interesting statistics are the number of page views (26.975) and the average session duration (02:53 minutes).

Ten videos were produced and uploaded on Vimeo platform. The numbers of plays for the video about the project presentation is 450 and the average numbers for others is 100. A detailed report is available in the Annex A. The Facebook and Twitter profiles (Deliverable 2.7) were launched on April 15th 2014. They are used as a tool to facilitate the dissemination of information among a wider public.

5. Mailing list

A mailing list (Deliverable 2.6) was set up by using MailChimp (email marketing service provider, mailchimp.com) in April 2014. In compiling contacts list, particular attention was paid to the identification of various stakeholders (local authorities and national media, local communities, researchers). The email addresses were collected among the beneficiaries. Newsletter has been used as tools to highlight the latest news, events, activities and publications. 9 newsletters were sent during the project. The main indicator of engagement is the number of email subscribers: the first newsletter was sent to 1.264 contacts and 1.193 contacts are subscribed at the end of the project. The open rate was on average 33%.

6. Facebook , Twitter and LinkedIn

Three social networks profiles have been set up: Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

The profiles are available at the following addresses: - Facebook Page “GARCIA Project”: https://www.facebook.com/pages/GARCIA-Project/1427223240866484 - Twitter account @GARCIAProjectEU: https://twitter.com/GarciaProjectEU - LinkedIn group “GARCIA Project”: https://www.linkedin.com/groups?home=&gid=8110583. The Facebook and Twitter profiles (Deliverable 2.7) were launched on April 15th 2014. They have been used as a tool to facilitate the dissemination of information among a wider public. According to beneficiaries’ indications, a LinkedIn group was created in order to encourage the debate among those professionally involved. The group was created on May 9th 2014. Social media activity has been constantly monitored in order to fit the communication needs.

Social media data have been collected and analyzed on a regular basis (January 2015, April 2015, October 2015, December 2015, March 2016, June 2016, November 2016, January 2017) and reports for internal use have been produced (see Annex A). Information provided below refers to data collected in January 2017.

Facebook The Facebook “Insight” Function has provided some useful indicators about the engagement. It reports the number of likes, visits, posts engagement/reach and demographic information on “followers”. The number of posts is 385. The number of followers has increased from 267 to 393 during 2015 and to 511 during 2016. About 73% of them are women. The monitoring includes comparing pages from other EU Projects. This allows us to estimate the order of magnitude to be expected. We have considered the Facebook page of one of GARCIA’s sister projects (GenisLab, https://www.facebook.com/GenisLab/) as well as the Facebook Page of a big project (RRI tools, https://www.facebook.com/RRI.Tools.Project/). According to our last collection of data, the number of follower is 219 for GenisLab and 969 for RRI. As the GARCIA Project Facebook Page has 511 followers, the engagement on this channel can be considered successful. We collected data on a 3 months period basis (all the data are provided in Annex A). Twitter Twitter Analytics (https://analytics.twitter.com) has been used in order to collect Twitter data. At the end of the project 613 tweets have been posted (January 2017) and the number of followers has increased from 172 to 272 during 2016. The number of followers has been compared to the number of followers of similar projects (GENOVATE and FESTA) through Followerwonk (https://moz.com/followerwonk/). @GENOVATE_EU and @festaproject have 373 followers and 194 followers respectively. LinkedIn LinkedIn has been used as a tool for disseminating academic results and information. The group is currently composed of 63 members. As expected, the engagement is lower than in the other two profiles.

7. Logotype

The GARCIA brand identity ensures a common graphic line for all communications material produced by the consortium. It includes logotype (Deliverable 2.8), letterhead, presentation layout, website graphic design and brochure.

All beneficiaries took part in the logotype definition process. After a first round of consultation, feedbacks received were used to elaborate the final version. To promote the correct use of the brand materials, a Visual identity Guide was developed. The Guide contains information on the use of the logotype, colours, typography and a list of the promotional materials produced during the project, to be used by the consortium members for dissemination activities. A video graphical identity for multimedia products was developed.

8. Brochure

A publication (Deliverable 2.9) that describes the project objectives and results has been used to spread information at local, national and international level. The printed version of the brochure was produced in 1200 copies by the University of Trento (coordinator). Beneficiaries have printed more copies and distributed them at conferences and events. A pdf version is available on the project website (http://garciaproject.eu/?page_id=36).

9. Conferences presentations

In reference to deliverable D.11-D12 - Conference presentations -, the GARCIA Project was presented at Dissemination events; the consortium members also participated in other meetings and conferences. All the Events are listed on the project website http://garciaproject.eu/?page_id=58.
