Merry Christmas, Trinity UMC Family –
All over the world, Christians will prepare for
a new beginning in the New Year by celebrating
the season of Advent. Advent is a time when the
church reflects on God’s promises to deliver His
people and to make His home with them. We
trust God will do this again, because He has
proven faithful in the past. Advent leads up to
Christmas—a very special day when God came to
earth in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ.
This is Immanuel—”God with us”. It is a time for us to prepare our hearts to
receive Christ anew. This is a reminder that we who have put our trust in Jesus
Christ are part of God’s family and called to be involved in God’s mission of
bringing others to know Him. This is a never ending process of learning to
live the Christ-like life.
I would encourage you this year to start a new family tradition. Either be-
fore you open your presents or before you enjoy Christmas dinner, have some-
one read the Christmas story in Luke 2:1-20. Once it is read, invite people to
share what it means to them that God came into the world or where they would
like to see God move in the coming year. To close the time, offer a prayer of
thanks to God for doing what no other god has ever done or could ever do—be
present with His people at all times, in all places. It could take as few as five
minutes. But, it will center your time around the idea that the greatest gift we
have will not be found under the tree or even be seated at the table next to us.
The greatest gift we have is God Himself. He not only reveals Himself in the
person of Jesus Christ, but also invites us into relationship with Him.
Be sure to join us for Sunday services during this season and a special
Candlelight Service on Christmas Eve. I also look forward to hearing from
those of you who incorporate this new tradition into your time together.
With Great Anticipation –
Pastor Rich

December Mission Feature The December Mission Feature has traditionally been the “Pastor’s Discretionary Fund.” This fund allows our Pastor to have the financial means to temporarily assist members and others who find themselves financially strapped. Unforeseen medical expenses, a major appliance breakdown, or “out of work with a family to care for” are just a few examples where Pastor Rich would be able to reach out and offer help on behalf of the church family. In order to respect the families, we do not publicize the recipients, but many times they will send a card of thanks. Occasionally, families even reimburse the fund when they are more financially stable. We hope you will support this pro-ject through your “Mission Feature” offerings. In doing so, you are helping others and insuring the continuation of this project. Thank you for your generosity— The Missions Committee
Trinity General Trust Fund - Give a Gift that Keeps Giving!
The Trinity General Trust Fund recently paid $9,283.15 from it's earnings to be used for general purposes of the church. Since 2001, the Trust Fund has provided $129,370.98 to be used toward the annual church budget. You may donate directly to this trust with cash or securities. If your are over 70 1/2, you may contribute from your IRA as a Qualified Charitable Distribution. Please keep Trinity in mind when making your estate plan.
If you would like more information on the trust or how you can contribute, please contact Jim Vincent or Andy North.
Thank you to all who participated in bringing items for Delphos Inter-Faith Shop Food Pantry which was the Mission Feature for November. We collected a nice variety with a total of 106 items. Thank you again for helping with another “Hands on Mission Project” -The Mission Committee
The next Mission Meeting will be Monday, December 10, at 5:30pm in Fellowship Hall

Getting to Know Trinity
Are you new to Trinity? Have you thought about joining the church? Maybe you are a long-time member
who is interested in finding out more about our United Methodist beliefs. If this is you, join Pastor Rich
for a six-session class called “Getting to Know Trinity”. We will be examining what God’s Word says
about our connection to the church family. We will wrestle with questions like: Is church membership
biblical? Do we understand what is meant by membership in the local church? Why would I join this
church – or any church? What commitments do I have to the church family? What commitments does the
church have to me? What makes United Methodists different from other Christians?
Who: Anyone interested in the study, even if you are already a member, if
you don’t plan to join the church, or are not sure at this point.
What: Lunch, Learning, and Fellowship
When: Sundays, January 6—February 10, Noon to 1:30PM
Where: Trinity UMC Fellowship Hall
Roll Call of the Victorious
Sunday, November 4, 2018, we remembered those who have received the outcome of their faith in the past year. Their earthly life is finished but their journey continues with the Lord. We honored their contributions to family and friends as we continue to lift up in prayer those who remain in this life and grieve not having them with us. The “Roll Call of the Faithful” was read at each service (9:00 am and 10:30 am). A rose was placed on the altar to commemorate each church member who has passed in the last year. They were:
Clara Binkley Dorothy Dillon Margaret Ditto Jacqueline Edwards Harold Foust Marion Jettinghoff Linda Petersmeyer

The Advent season is a busy time of year for our families, and our church family is no exception. By the time you read this the youth will have completed their first small community outreach project which was contributing to the Christmas tree collection at the Canal Museum.
December will bring a host of opportunities for the youth group to reach out both to our church family as well as the Delphos community.
We will be making candy for the Church Bazaar and most of the youth and their families have signed up to serve at the event. This makes me smile seeing our youth jump in to help out!
On the 9th the youth will be serving our community by doing a Random Acts of Kindness Scaven-
ger Hunt. They will be traveling throughout Delphos to complete this task and I know that the youth will be blessed even more as the people receiving the acts of kindness.
As we enter the Advent season I will leave you with the following scripture: Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Merry Christmas, Wayne

Holiday Greetings!
We hope this finds you all in good health and good spirits. We want to first thank
all the Parents and Grandparents who helped with our traditional Thanksgiving
Feast. The children once again enjoyed their “turkey” nuggets thanks to the Chicken
House. The rest of the trimmings were graciously donated by the Tender Times
Families. The children really enjoy this celebration made especially for them.
The children have begun practice for the annual Christmas Show. The perform-
ance will be Wednesday, December 19th at 6:30 p.m. We encourage family and
friends to attend and support are little ones.
We will be treated to a performance by the Delphos Jefferson High School Show
Choir this month as well. Our students look forward to this every year!
We will also be visited by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The anticipation is electric in the
hallways and classrooms.
We wish all of you the happiest of holidays. In this season of giving we remember
that God’s love of a child is the greatest gift of all.
Sincerely, Tender Times Staff
