Deluxe Bakuts (engl.) Yarn: 1 string Alpaka wool, colour grey, lenght: 656 yds/100gr und 1 string ggh Melange colour white, length 273 yds/25g You can use every other kind of yarn for the scarf. Then the scarf maybe will become longer/shorter or wider/narrower.

Needle size:. US 7 or 4.50 mm circular

needles: one with a cable of 24 inch and one

with a cable of at least 39 inch

Consumption: 122 gr. which is 569 yds

Sizes: 73 inch long und 15 inch wide

(measured from the ruffles borders) You knit the scarf in stockinette stitch. You start with a narrow side, become wider and end with the other narrow side. After that you knit the ruffles around. In order to get equal picked up stitches for the ruffles you knit the whole scarf with hole pattern at the borders.

Cast on 11 stitches loosely. Row 1 (Right side; RS): knit 1, yarn over, *knit 2 stitches together, yarn over*, repeat until 1 stitch on needle, knit last stitch. Row 2 (Wrongs side; WS): Purl all stitches. Work all wrongs sides purl. Pattern: First section with increases, look at chart 1. After the first 2 rows you start with the increases: in every 4th row (every 2nd RS) you increase 1 stitch. For that you start in every 2nd RS row with knit 1, yarn over. The rows without increases you knit 2 stitches together, yarn over. The last 2 stitches in every RS row work with 1 yarn over, 1 ssk. The result is an equal hole patter border which you need for the pick up for the ruffles around. Purl all Ws rows and all yarns over.

Continue with the increases until you have 48 stitches on your needles. Second Section/middle Section. Look at chart 2: After first section you knit the mid part for 30 rows without increases. Third Section with decreases. Look at chart 3: Now starts the 3rd part with equal decreases. The decreases you make in every 4th row (every 2nd RS row) as follows: ssk, 1 yarn over, ssk. In the RS rows without decreases you make ssk, 1 yarn over. The last 2 stitches in every RS row work 1 yarn over, 1 ssk. For the last RS Row knit 1, *yarn over, ssk*, repeat to last stitch. WS purl. Next row bind off lossley. Keep last stitch on needle. Chart 1: Increases in every 4th row

Border with ruffles: (look at chart 4) Place marker after the last stitch on needle. Cast on (attention: use the circular needle with the long cable): Pick up the stitches from the edge stitches of the scarf as follows: From the holes of the yarns over you pick the yarn through the hole, then 1 yarn over, pick up again the yarn through the next hole, then 1 yarn over. Continue until you reach the marker again. The next rows work in the round. Knit the following row. The next row you double all stitches by knitting and knitting into back loop. Knit the following 2 rows. Purl the next row. Knit the following row. Purl the next row. Then you knit the last row and bind off loosely. Chart 4: border (work in rounds)

Completion: Weave in all ends. Soak the shawl in cool water with a bit of wool wash. Rinse carefully. Wrap the shawl in a towel to squeeze out the excess water. Pin in place and block to shape. Adjust Sizes: The sizing of this shawl is easily adjusted, based on your preference. To make the shawl wider: Cast on 17 or 21 stitches and make 37 increase. To make the shawl narrower: Cast on 5, 7 or 9 stitches make less than 37 increases. For the length of 73 inches work more than 30 rows in the mid section. To make the shawl longer: Work more than 30 rows in the mid section.
