Demi Lovato’s SNL debut on Oct. 17 featured a live mash-up of singles “Cool for the Summer”

and “Confident,” as well as a separate performance of Confident ballad “Stone Cold‘’ -- both

powerful, in different ways.

The musical guest’s “Cool for the Summer”/”Confident” mix was a fiery performance that

showed off the singer’s attitude and self-assurance.

“Stone Cold” was stripped down musically – Lovato was backed by piano only – but her vocals

were full of raw emotion.

Demi Lovato served as musical guest for the much-anticipated Tracy Morgan-hosted episode of

Saturday Night Live, and the singer conquered the Studio 8H stage with a pair of rousing,

assured performances. Two days after Lovato released her new LP Confident, she managed to

squeeze three album cuts into her two spots, first with a truncated version of her Max Martin-

produced hit "Cool for the Summer" that segued into the brassy, uplifting "Confident" that was

backed by a full band and horn section.

Lovato previously premiered her action-packed, Robert Rodriguez-directed video for

"Confident," featuring the singer battling it out with actress Michelle Rodriguez. Later in the

episode, Lovato returned for "Stone Cold," where she showcased her impressive vocal chops on

the poignant piano-driven ballad.

In addition to the musical performances, Lovato also appeared in a sketch where Morgan

reprised his Astronaut Jones character, with the singer portraying the "proud ruler of the Martian

people." Upon offering Morgan's spaceman sustenance and peace, the astronaut instead suggests

to Lovato's Martian, "I say you take that butt out of that spacesuit and let me see it clap."

Before she appeared as a pink-haired alien opposite a stranded Tracy Morgan in an “Astronaut

Jones” sketch, Demi Lovato took to the Saturday Night Live stage to perform three tracks off her

new album Confident.

Lovato kicked things off with a raucous performance of her summer single, “Cool for the

Summer,” before launching into the album’s title track, “Confident,” singing, “I used to hold my

freak back, now I’m letting go. I make my own choice. Bitch, I run this show.”

Later in the night, she traded the full backing band for just a piano, performing a stripped-down

version of “Stone Cold” and showing off some sky-high vocals.

“Stone Cold” http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/10/demi-lovato-snl-stone-cold

This weekend’s Saturday Night Live was notable for many reasons, from Tracy Morgan’s

triumphant return to Larry David’s incredible Bernie Sanders impersonation. The increased

attention paid to the episode is also good news for Demi Lovato, who made the most of her two

performances of the night.

Her performance of “Stone Cold,” one of seven songs co-written by Lovato for her album

Confident, was on the receiving end of many compliments on Sunday morning.

“The reaction has been incredible,” Lovato told VF.com on Sunday. “I'm just honored I was able

to convey the emotion of the song.”

Confident is Lovato’s fifth studio album. For more of Lovato, revisit her personal photoshoot

WATCH DEMI LOVATO'S RAPTUROUS 'SNL'

PERFORMANCE OF 'STONE COLD' http://www.fuse.tv/videos/2015/10/demi-lovato-saturday-night-live-snl-performance

Demi Lovato made the most of her debut Saturday Night Live visit, performing a roof-rattling

rendition of her two most recent Confident singles as well as delivering a transformative

rendition of her new ballad, "Stone Cold."

The latter is the performance that everyone will be talking about beyond the weekend: Lovato

took the stage wearing a black sleeveless top and proceeded to soar through the painful account

of letting an ex move on. Her "Stone Cold" take is the type of performance that confirms

everything Lovato's longtime fans already knew about her, but may open the former Disney star

up to a much broader audience.

Her medley of "Cool For The Summer" and "Confident" also proved delicious, as the former was

given an all-brass facelift and sounded absurdly fresh. All three songs come from Confident,

Lovato's fifth studio album released on Friday (Oct. 16).

Demi Lovato Delivers a Crazy Emotional Performance

on "Saturday Night Live" http://www.cosmopolitan.com/entertainment/celebs/news/a47875/demi-lovato-delivers-a-crazy-

emotional-performance-on-saturday-night-live/

Demi Lovato is baring it all lately. First, in a totally nude photo shoot, and now with stripped

down performances that are hot-as-hell. As the musical guest on last night's Saturday Night Live,

our girl brought the ruckus.

She started out with "Cool for the Summer," and then transitioned into "Confident," the title

track off her latest album. One word, three times: HOT, HOT, HOT. (I don't know what else to

say? This performance is Me-OW!)

Later in the evening, backed by only a piano, she delivered a raw, emotional performance of

"Stone Cold." Shivers.

Oh, and lest you think humanity has changed for the better while you were sleeping, TMZ has a

photo of a guy trying to get Demi to sign a nude photo of herself as she leaves a SNL afterparty.

Class.

'Saturday Night Live' http://www.complex.com/music/2015/10/demi-lovato-performs-confident-stone-cold-cool-for-

Not only did last night's stacked Saturday Night Live give us a long overdue Larry David as

Bernie Sanders triumph and the return of Tracy Morgan, NBC's TV landmark also gave us a

note-for-note victory from one Demi Lovato. The current Complex cover star not only squeezed

the Confident title track and "Cool for the Summer" into one performance, she also delivered an

emotional rendition of "Stone Cold" worth a repeated viewing:

Shortly before hitting the SNL stage, Demi exchanged a pair of supportive tweets with fellow

radio dominator Ariana Grande on the topic of Confident's vocal acrobatics:

Saturday Night Live Review: "Tracy Morgan/Demi

Lovato" (41.03) http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/10/saturday-night-live-review-tracy-morgandemi-

lovato.html

Forty-one seasons in, Saturday Night Live knows better how to be what it once was than what it

will become. Such is the curse of middle age: the overwhelming pull of nostalgia set against the

yearning to grow, to improve…to get right before we are gone. With the return of former cast

member Tracy Morgan (1996-2003), SNL is its old self again. And for a night, those of us who

love the show are reminded why we still watch.

Musical guest Demi Lovato performed a medley of hit “Cool For the Summer” and new song

“Confident,” then returned later in the show for “Stone Cold.” Lovato was better (strong,

actually) with her ballad than her band, but left little mark on the episode itself. Tracy Morgan

really did fill the room. No musical breaks were needed.

Demi Lovato Rocks Out To ‘Cool For The Summer’

On ‘SNL’ — Watch http://hollywoodlife.com/2015/10/18/demi-lovato-snl-performance-cool-for-the-summer/

Demi Lovato proved that she’s a total badass during her stint as the musical guest on ‘Saturday

Night Live.’ We’re not sure what we loved more: hearing a powerhouse medley of ‘Cool For

The Summer’ and ‘Confident,’ or seeing her incredibly sexy performance!

Demi Lovato, 23, knocked it out of the park with her insanely powerful, rock-hard rendition of

“Cool For The Summer” on the October 17 episode of SNL. It was the Demi we all know and

admire, powered up 10 notches! Add an incredible performance of “Confident” and “Stone

Cold” to the mix, and this is something to remember! Click through to watch!

We knew Demi had some serious pipes, but her Saturday Night Live performance was on

another level! The gorgeous singer belted out “Cool For The Summer” with such power, and

combined with the massive backing of trumpets and horns, she was a force to be reckoned with.

What a cool rendition of this song!

Demi looked sexy and strong, wearing a flirty black romper and thigh-high boots, head-banging

her way through her hit. What a badass! We loved her backup singers’ looks: black turtleneck

bodysuits, berets and thigh-highs. It was only natural that Demi and her crew transitioned into

“Confident” after that!

Seriously, Demi was incredible during the Tracy Morgan-hosted episode. There’s no denying

that she’s a boss right now, and that everyone needs to bow down to her amazing prowess. How

can anyone deny a voice like that?

The rest of the episode was a total smash, marking host Tracy’s triumphant return to the show he

called home for years. After the traumatic 2014 car crash that killed his friend, and left him with

extensive brain damage and injuries, Tracy fought his way back to become the person — and

comedian — he once was. It was so amazing to see Demi support him onstage with her fabulous

performance, making this an episode to remember!

So many legendary singers and bands have graced the SNL stage, and now Demi can count

herself among them. She deserves it! HollywoodLifers, did you love Demi’s performance? Tell

us in the comments and take our poll!

the Summer” and “Confident” on the Tracy Morgan-hosted episode. Demi released this past

Friday (Oct. 16) her fifth studio album “Confident” and this SNL ‘gig’ is one of the many she

has done and will be doing throughout this uber important “first week”.

For the ballad “Stone Cold”, Demi sported a stylish black outfit (pants included) and slicked

back hair, while for “Cool for the Summer” and “Confident”, she let her hair loose and rocked

the stage killing the performance with her power vocals and stomping knee-high boots.

Demi Lovato Makes ‘SNL’ Debut With ‘Cool For The

Summer,’ ‘Confident,’ And More http://popcrush.com/demi-lovato-makes-snl-debut/

Demi Lovato made her Saturday Night Live debut this weekend, performing on the hit NBC

comedy sketch show as the musical guest for the first time ever.

Joining comedian Tracy Morgan—hosting the show for the first time since his tragic June 2014

car accident—Demi performed not one, not two, but three songs during her late night October 17

stint as musical guest!

Dressed in a chic black halter dress and skyscraper-tall black thigh high boots, the former Disney

pop-rocker turned sexy diva pop-star electrified the crowd during her first performance, blasting

through an amped-up, flirty mash-up of her sensual summer kiss-off “Cool For The Summer”

(transformed into a more brassy, jazzy tune for the live show) and hi-octane banger “Confident,”

the lead singles off her latest album Confident, which dropped on Friday. Check out the high-

attitude medley below:

After showing off her fierce pop prowess, the signer toned things down for her second

performance, this time dazzling the audience with a passionate and show-stopping rendition of

Confident‘s resident ballad, “Stone Cold,” an emotive, piano-driven pop tune with sweeping

gospel flourishes. Her voice powerful and raw, Demi left the stage theatrics of pop behind to

simply sing her heart out—and sing her heart out, she did. Watch below:

After the show, Demi’s boyfriend, actor Wilmer Valderrama, took to Twitter while in the air to

praise his princess, “Just watched my [Demi Lovato] completely kill on SNL from my plane

seat! Yup, it’s a crime scene!” This, of course, prompted a super cute exchange between the two:

Say it with me now: D’awww!

Demi Lovato performed “Stone Cold” on this week’s “SNL.” For her first performance, Lovato

sang a mash-up of “Cool For The Summer” and ‘Confident.” See the video below of Lovato’s

performance of “Stone Cold” on “Saturday Night Live.”

As Gossip Cop noted earlier, this is Lovato’s first time as musical guest on “SNL.” Her

performance of “Stone Cold” was simply Lovato standing at a mic, accompanied by a piano

performing the song.

“Cold Stone” is off Lovato’s fifth and latest album Confident, which was released on Friday, the

same day it was announced that she signed a modeling contract with the top agency Wilhelmina.

The modeling agency plans to secure Lovato endorsement deals in the beauty and fashion

industries. Lovato said of the deal, “I’m thrilled to sign my first major modeling contract with

Wilhelmina… as I enter the next phase of my career and continue to develop as an artist.”

But mostly, Lovato will focus on her music and her new album. Check out the video below of

“Confident” Medley On ‘SNL’ – WATCH VIDEO http://www.gossipcop.com/demi-lovato-snl-cool-for-the-summer-confident-video-saturday-

night-live-watch-performance/

Demi Lovato performed a medley of “Cool For The Summer” and “Confident” on this week’s

“SNL.” See Lovato’s performance on “Saturday Night Live” below.

“Cool For The Summer” is the first single off Lovato’s fifth and latest album Confident, while

“Confident” is the second song from the album. “Cool For The Summer” reached the number

one position on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs. It also quickly reached the number one spot on

iTunes right after it was released.

And “Confident” has a cool video, which was directed by famed filmmaker Robert Rodriguez,

and stars Lovato and Michelle Rodriguez. The movie-like video begins with Lovato being

pardoned and released from a prison by a U.S. Marshal in exchange for her tracking down

Michelle Rodriguez. But as soon as she does, Lovato realizes she’s been double-crossed and

after a fight with Rodriguez, she’s re-arrested.

En route back the maximum security prison, Lovato makes a death-defying escape from a prison

truck and goes after Rodriguez again. At a certain point, after a second fight, two women realize

they’ve both been set up by the corrupt U.S. Marshal, and ultimately kick his and his team’s

butts.

This is the first time Lovato has been the musical guest on “SNL.” Check out the video below of

Tracy Morgan Reprises Astronaut Jones For “The

Martian” Parody On ‘SNL’ – WATCH VIDEO http://www.gossipcop.com/tracy-morgan-astronaut-jones-demi-lovato-snl-martian-video-

saturday-night-live-watch/

Tracy Morgan reprised his character Astronaut Jones for a parody of The Martian during his

hosting of “SNL.” Musical guest Demi Lovato was also in the sketch as a female martian named

“Martiana.” Check out the video below.

The sketch began at NASA, where it was announced, “One of our men was lost” on Mars. It’s

then revealed the spaceman left behind on the planet was none other than Astronaut Jones. And

with that began the opening montage for the recurring sketch Morgan used to do when he was on

“SNL” as a cast member.

It featured Morgan in a spacesuit, playing guitar and singing, “Rocket, I’m taking a rocket. I’m

packing my suitcase, and look out moon. Yeah, a rocket, into outer space. Goodbye human race,

I’ll be there soon.” Blast off! For fun and adventure, yes, I said adventure, collecting stones!”

The song continued, “Yeah, it’s my way or the old space highway. That’s why they all say,

‘There goes Astronaut Jones!'”

After the song, Morgan said, “I’m alone on the planet mars,” but right then Lovato came into

frame and said, “My name is Martiana.” She told the astronaut, who was left behind on Mars,

“We are willing to help you… Give you food and water.” Lovato added that she would like him

to broker peace and “help us make contact with earthlings and understand their strange ways,”

but he just talked gibberish over her until he said, “Take your butt out of that spacesuit, and let

me see your clap.”

Earlier on “SNL,” Morgan brought back his Brian Fellows character. As Gossip Cop reported,

this was the second time Morgan was the host of the sketch comedy show since leaving in 2003,

and the first time since he was involved in a serious accident in June 2014.

Check out the video of Morgan reprising his Astronaut Jones character on “Saturday Night

Live,” and tell Gossip Cop what you think.
