Next meeting: January 26th 2016, 530pm. Gig Harbor Methodist Church 7400 Pioneer Way Gig Harbor, WA 98335 Public Welcome!
Demo January 26th, with Karen
Petrillose! She will share what she learned at the Nicholas
Simmons workshop at Art in the Mountains in Bend, Oregon, in August 2013. Petrillose will cover Nick's signature techniques such as wash out, cell painting, paint flinging, sewing machine, large unusual sizes and use of Photoshop and digital projector to design paintings. A PAL
scholarship helped her to be able to take this
course, for which she is eternally grateful.
Petrillose has received 15 awards (including several Best of Shows) Since attending that workshop (which she feels is no
coincidence!) Karen was signed up for Nick's AITM workshop in August 2015 which Nick had to cancel due to ill health and sadly he passed away in September. This presentation will be a tribute to his greatness as an artist, teacher and mentor. Petrillose, born in Watertown, NY, has been a Lakewood resident since 2001. Many of her recent works are on display at the Ebb Tide Gallery, where she is the January guest artist. Ebb Tide Gallery: 7809

Presidents Message: HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I am so excited about being your president! We have a wonderful slate of officers and committee chairpersons for 2016 all volunteering their time and efforts for PAL. Our league of artists contribute much to the quality of life here in Gig Harbor. The festival, regional show, member shows, plein air painting and show, current net shed show and other events we sponsor serve to put arts and artists visible in our community. Our workshops and scholarships serve our membership as well as many other budding artists. I can’t imagine a world without the arts. To this end I will volunteer my time as president. But there
are many other jobs to be done to put on all the events we do. So I ask, “what will each one of you do this year for your organization?” Big or small find one way you can contribute. The old adage “many hands make light work” applies here. Let’s work together to make this a wonderful art filled year for Gig Harbor!
Charli Live well, laugh often, love much!

Netshed Show at the History Museum
Netshed Take Down and PARTY Feb 14th
Dear Artists/Valentines Happy New Year! I hope all is well and that you can join Harbor History Museum with the wrapping up of the Netshed Exhibit. JoAnn Hale is planning a thank you party for everyone who helped. It will be the evening of February 14 (yes, I know - Valentine's Day) but everyone can bring their "valentine" if they wish. It will be at the museum from 6:00PM - 8:00PM and will include drinks and appetizers. My thought is that if you wanted to take your art home with you that even-ing it would help make the breaking down of the exhibit that much easier- and "one stop" for you too! Thanks- Anne Knapp (and JoAnn Hale) Please let me (Anne) know if you think you can COME or NOT so that the Museum can plan refreshments. It should be fun!
