Den norske super-duo Nico & Vinz slårhitliste rekord!

Det er lidt over et år siden at den norske duo Nico & Vinz (dengang Envy)storhittede med singlen "Am I Wrong" herhjemme. Siden har de to musikereog venner bosat sig i LA for at skrive nyt materiale og finpudse talentet - enbeslutning som nu har kastet flere hitlisterekorder af sig.

Duoen har siden tilflytningen til Los Angeles formået at etablere sig gedigenti USA med "Am I Wrong", som chartede som "mest addede single" ireleaseugen derovre. Siden da har Nico & Vinz optrådt i alt fra "JimmyKimmel" til "Good Morning America" og "Ryan Seacrest" og har netop

afsluttet en opvarmningstour for Bruno Mars.

"Am I Wrong" har de sidste mange uger sat sig urokkeligt på #4 på denprestigefulde amerikanske Billboard Top100 Chart og  nu har duoen ogsåslået rekord med den første #1 placering på den engelske hitliste baseret påstreams alene. Derudover er Nico & Vinz det eneste norske act, som holderen britisk #1 placering i anden uge i træk, siden A-ha gjorde det for 28 årsiden!

Som om det ikke var nok, er "Am I Wrong" gennem de sidste to måneder denmest "Shazamede" sang i verden!   

Herhjemme i Danmark har Nico & Vinz været flittigt besøgende efter "Am IWrong" allerede tilbage i foråret gik #1 i Danmark - senest optrådte de toherrer i DRs Store Juleshow sidste december. Efter at Nico & Vinz selv harlagt et coverbillede op på facebook lyder rygtet nu om et foreståendedebutalbum. Et album, som altså herhjemme følger op på både "Am I Wrong" og seneste hitudspil "In Your Arms", som duoen skød videoen til her iDanmark - samme sted hvor Nico & Vinz sidste år startede succesen med atvære:

Nico & Vinz are an international music sensation who have already set theEuropean entertainment scene on fire. Hailing from Oslo, Norway, thesinging/songwriting duo, made up of Nico Sereba and Vincent Dery, hastapped into the heart of global culture by writing and performing songs thatjoyfully speak of life, love and identity. Though it’s hard to name their sound,consider it reminiscent of The Police and Paul Simon’s Graceland.

The pulse of good music throbs powerfully through their Afro-Norwegianveins. At first for Nico music was not his passion;it was soccer. For Vinz it was rapping. Since Nico & Vinz began workingtogether five years ago, their mission has been laser sharp: to make magic inthe studio, dream up the most imaginative videos to illustrate their ideas andtravel the world to share their artistry with everyone they can.

Since their debut in 2010 as Envy, Nico & Vinz have drawn huge audiencesthanks to their unique performance style.  They stepped on the scene at theEmegenza Festival where they eventually won first place for new, emergingartists at the Taubertal Open Air Festival with their electric live performance.

In June 2011 they released their debut single, “One Song” which peaked at#19 on the Norwegian Single Chart and earned them a Spelleman Award(Norwegian equivalent to a Grammy) for the song’s video.  Expanding beyongtheir Scandinavian borders to reach the blob, Nico & Vinz took their newmusic on the road across much much of Europe and producing music inspiredby their travels.

Their combined focus has evolved into a movement and a message. In theirsong, “Am I Wrong” that flew to the top of the charts in Norway, Denmark,Finland and Sweden last year, they speak about a universal theme followingyour own heart. The “Am I Wrong” music video, directed by Kavar Singh, is already gainingground stateside with more than 27 million views on YouTube, and over 11million for its lyric video.  That’s no surprise given the riveting images andsettings captured in this eye-catching “short film.”  Vinz explains that it wasshot in Botswana. “We said let’s go there and make a video that reallyprojects the positivity and joy and good energy that’s in Africa, not always thenegative stuff.”  Their vision is paying off. The single has won an NRJ Awardfor “Song of the Year,” and a Spelleman Award nomination for “Hit of theYear.”  To date, “Am I Wrong” has a 20x Platinum combined certification in

Scandanavia!

Nico & Vinz’s second Scandinavian single “In Your Arms” charted in Norway,Denmark and Sweden. Once again the video takes the viewer on a uniquejourney. With this song, the imagery is of a homeless man who creates a timemachine to travel back to meet up with his family who had been tragicallykilled. 

The duo performed both hits at the Nobel Peace Prize concert at the end of2013. Vinz describes that experience as surreal. “I will never forget it. It wasone of the all-time highlights. We had dreamed about it four years earlier,and then it happened.”

With hardly any formal training, these two are mastering their craft bycollaborating skillfully as they create stories to share with the world. “Wetake our differences and use them to our advantage,” says Nico. “We neverforce things.” ”Our goal,” according to Vinz, ”is for people to feel and think atthe same time” when they listen to their music. Without question, Nico &Vinz honor their heritage of being both Norwegian and African. They also seethe universality in the human experience and feel no pressure to conform toany particular way of being.
