is a PhD degree program developed,
delivered and quality assured by UPM.
The program emphasizes both on
industrial needs and the academic
requirements.

CURICULUM STRUCTURE
CURICULUM STRUCTURE• The DEng is a mixed mode research- based program.
• Each student is required to take minimum 24 credit hours of courses
and 60 credit hours of research project.
• Student is also required to prepare a high quality thesis based on
findings/results of which provide solutions to industrial problems.
• Credit distribution of the program is presented in Table 1.

DURATION AND
METHOD OF STUDY
DURATION AND METHOD OF STUDY
Minimum of 2½ years (5 semesters), maximum of 5 years (10 semesters).
UPM offers programs only in full time mode.
Courses are conducted through lectures, seminar, and presentation.
Lectures will be held either after office hour or weekend or in modular mode.
Research project will be carried out as follows;
Student is required to submit a project proposal based on industrial problem and must
be approved by both UPM and industry.
The research must be carried out at company site/designated premise and not at
UPM.
Project supervision involves supervisors from faculty and industry. UPM Supervisor
must also supervise the student at his workplace and this will require the supervisor to
visit the student regularly.
The industry must have suitable staff who are deemed eligible by UPM to supervise
the student
The industry must provide adequate research facilities for the student to conduct
research effectively.14

• Program MyBrain15 adalah salah satu program agenda kritikal
di bawah Pelan Strategik Pengajian Tinggi Negara (PSPTN).
Matlamat program adalah untuk mewujudkan kelompok
sumber manusia yang berpengetahuan tinggi sebagai
