    1. Density of concrete is about 2400 kg/m

    2400 kg = 23000 N = 23 kN

    so the answer is 23 kN / m

    2. The unit weight of concrete is 23.60 KN/m3

    1 KN = 1,000 Newton

    1 Newton = 0.1019 Kg

    1,000 N = 101.9 Kgs = 1 KN

    Unit Wt. of Concrete = (23.60 x 101.9) Kgs/m3

    Unit. Wt. = 2,404.84 Kgs/m3 (Note that usually, a value of 2,400 Kgs/m3 is

    being used)

    3. Common Concrete Properties include (english units):

    E =2,500-4,500 ksi Poisson's ratio (v) = 0.1-0.2

    Thermal deformation = 6.7x10-61/F

    Plain Concrete

    o = weight density = 145 pcf

    o = mass density = 4.5 slugs/ft3

    Reinforced Concrete

    o = weight density = 150 pcf

    o = mass density = 4.7 slugs/ft3

    Lightweight Concrete

    o = weight density = 70-115 pcf

    o = mass density = 2.2-3.6 slugs/ft3

    Common Concrete Properties include (metric units):

    E =17-31 GPa

    Poisson's ratio (v) = 0.1-0.2

    Thermal deformation = 12x10-61/C

    Plain Concrete

  • 5/24/2018 Density of Concrete is About 2400 Kg

    2/4

    o = weight density = 23 kN/m3

    o = mass density = 2,300 kg/m3

    Reinforced Concrete

    o = weight density = 24 kN/m3

    o = mass density = 2,400 kg/m'^3

    Lightweight Concrete

    o = weight density = 11-18 kN/m3

    o = mass density = 1,100-1,800 kg/m'^3
