FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Now, most of the Indians head and lead various MNCs at Global Scale. According to them, this could be
achieved because of their inherent latent talents like - Intelligent Quotient [IQ], Emotional Quotient
[EQ], Spiritual Quotient [SQ], and Competitive Quotient [CQ] which they do derive from their parents
and imbibe from their Education.
The Expert in Management says that the Innovative Processes and Practices, Smart Marketing
Operations and Synergetic Approaches have brought in profits to Corporations in India, despite the
Economic Slowdown in the recent past and, at the same time, during recession, Corporate Giants faced
the challenges of retaining the Brand Equity.
The argument elongates further that the Economic Cycles are always normal incidents at times having
worldwide ramifications. On the other hand, the MBA and IT Aspirants have also the relevance and roles
to play in all these hard times without any hesitation. This imparts a lesson that any institution imparting
IT and Managing Education should understand the needs of contemporary global business and rear and
mould its students in such a manner, so that they could take up the top assignments in these Global
Conglomerates.
BPIBS has always poised for provision of excellent and conducive pedagogical ambience, well-built-
infrastructure, State-of-the-Art Computer Laboratories, Customized Curriculum, e-Classrooms,
EDUSAT Facility, besides dedicated fleet of Faculty for nurturing and moulding its IT and Management
Students to equip themselves to face even the formidable tasks and challenges arising in the
Contemporary Business Scenario.
It is a matter of great satisfaction that BPIBS is bringing out this issue of Departmental Magazine of
Bachelor of Business Administration – “Management Mirror” carrying a plethora of activities and
achievements during its sailing in the previous year. I take this opportunity to extend my Best Wishes to
all of them.

cleanest, and attention has always been given to keep it clean even before Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. But there is
always scope for improvement. So, ever since the beginning of the mission, more attention is being given to
keep the campus of the institute clean. Students and staff of the BBA Department take part in the cleanliness

Goods and Services Tax
GST stands for Goods and Services Tax levied by the Government in a move to replace all of the
indirect taxes. The main idea behind introducing GST is to improve the economy of the nation. A
single undivided Indian market would strengthen the economy and make a nation, powerful as
well.
The Introduction of GST in the country has both the positive and the negative impact.
THE POSITIVE IMPACT OF GOODS & SERVICES TAX:
• GST is a single taxation system that will reduce the number of indirect taxes. Earlier,
indirect taxes were charged as central excise, VAT, service tax, etc. From now, a single
taxation term would cover all of those indirect taxes.
• The Prices of products and services would reduce so this system would prove to be
beneficial for the people who are fed up of paying huge prices.
• This would reduce the burden from the state and the central government. Presently
separate taxes are levied on goods and services that you produce. With the introduction of
GST, all of these indirect taxes would come under a single roof.
• Market development. GST would not be charged at every point of sale like other indirect
taxes so this way, market would be developed.
• Corruption-free taxation system. GST would introduce corruption-free taxation system. In
the present scenario, the tax is levied at the time of product release from the manufacturing
site, and after that retailers also pay it.
• Positive impact on the Central and the State level
According to the latest reports, the introduction of GST would help India to gain $15 billion
every year. Let us see how:
- Improved exports
- More opportunities for employment
- Enhanced economy growth
- Reduced burden on central and state government.
. “It’s not the people you fire who make your life miserable. It’s the people you don’t.”
Management Mirror 41
THE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF GOODS & SERVICES TAX:
• According to many economists, the introduction of GST in the country would impact real
estate market. This would increase new home buying price by 8% and reduce buyers’ market
by 12%.
• GST levied by the government as CGST for central, SGST for state government are nothing
but fantasy terms representing older terms Service Tax, CST, and VAT in a new way.
• GST is a confusing term where double tax is charged in the name of a single taxation
system.
• Most of the indirect taxes would now start coming under GST. The Central excise tax is
levied at the time of Manufacturing but GST is levied till the selling stage.
• Most of the dealers don’t pay central excise tax and cheat the government by simply paying
the VAT. But all of those dealers would be forced to pay GST.
WRAPPING UP - CONCLUSION
There are approx. 140 countries where GST has already been implemented. Some of the
popular countries like Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, and Pakistan, to name a few.
Implementation of GST impacts a nation both ways, positively and negatively. Ignoring
negative aspects, positive aspects can be taken into consideration, in order to improve the
economy of the country.

Women at Workplace and the Environment
Women are accepting challenging roles to meet
their personal needs and becoming economically
independent. A strong desire to do something
positive is an inbuilt quality which can be seen
in women, who is capable of contributing values
in both family and social life. With the advent
of media, women are aware of their own traits,
rights and also the work situations. The
challenges and opportunities provided to the
women of digital era are growing rapidly that
the job seekers are turning into job creators.
They are flourishing as designers, interior decorators, exporters, publishers, garment
manufacturers and still exploring new avenues of economic participation. In India, although
women constitute the majority of the total population, the entrepreneurial world is still a male
dominated one. Women in advanced nations are recognized and are more prominent in the
business world. Mostly young women are working to maintain a career after completing their
studies while middle aged women are working for income purpose and job satisfaction and on the
other hand older women are working to get self-status and a mixture of them are working for
having an opportunity to spend time with cooperative world. Nowadays most of the women are
happy with the work environment in the organizations as they are provided with flexi-hours and
part-time employment. Organizations are working for Gender Diverse Workforce and train their
HR Personnel to support female employees. Organizations consider both men and women while
screening applications for job vacancies. Women feel safe to work in cooperative world as the
organizations have harassment policies and child care policies for them so that they can manage
both work and their child together.

Role of microfinance in Indian economy
This project is an extensive
research on the how
financial services can be
provided to poor people
through various
microfinance institutes and
yojnas of government,
which can lead to increase
in the employment level,
increase in GDP, increase in
national income of our
country and reducing the
poverty level. And how bank
help these poor people in
providing employment.
Microfinance can be described as an umbrella under which financial services including micro
credit are provided to the low income group. The need for the unfolding of microfinance began in
the developing nations more than thirty years ago. Microfinance refers to small scale financial
services for both credits and deposits that are provided to people, who farm, operate small or
micro enterprise where goods are produced, recycled, repaired, or traded. Microfinance playing
an important role in developing the rural areas by providing loans to people at lower interest. The
present research paper describes the role of Microfinance institutions in developing the
conditions of people who are living in rural areas.
The micro finance sector in India has developed a successful and sustainable business model
which has been able to overcome challenges traditionally faced by the financial services sector in
servicing the lower income population. In India, institutional credit agencies (banks) made an
entry in rural areas initially to provide an alternative to the rural money lenders who provided
credit support, but not without exploiting the rural poor.
Rural is often looked down upon as a not a healthy place to live, where that place is a secluded
place for the underprivileged and where only the down trodden people can live. On the other
side, micro is a word that has its presence that reflects only the small and the underprivileged.
Lack of access to finance is often cited as a key reason why poor people remain poor. This paper
Employees First, Customers Second: Turning Conventional Management Upside Down
Management Mirror 44
will throw light on the Indian rural sector as the emerging and vibrant sector which will take
India to fulfill the dream of the developed country. India can be divided into two parts on the
basis of development: one is Developed India and other is Undeveloped India, there arises a need
of Development of the underdeveloped Area .The research will focus to determine that, what
various Factors are contributing to the development of Rural India. It will focus on how the
micro finance Institutions can help the people of Rural India, so that they can get the Equal
opportunity for the Industrial and Agriculture growth.
Microfinance refers to a movement that envisions “a world in which many poor and near-poor
households, have permanent access to an appropriate range of high quality financial services,
including not just credit but also savings, insurance and fund transfers.” The microfinance sector
in India has developed a successful and sustainable business model which has been able to
overcome challenges traditionally faced by the financial services sector in servicing the low
income population by catering to its specific needs, capacities and leveraging pre-existing
community support networks.
The concept has grown over the past two decades. Over the years, major commercial banks and
multinational corporations have decided to sponsor it. However, this type of financing has a
darker side too. Most of studies are qualitative which tell that more than 90 per cent of the
people who receive micro credit are poor and most of them succeed in businesses started with
these loans. But the suicides committed by Indian farmers after being harassed by the
microfinance institutions (MFIs) for their inability to repay the debt have raised serious moral
and ethical issues against the institutions. The aggressive debt-collection tactics of these
MFIs have left us wondering if the government has been playing ignorant to the modus
operandi of MFIs. Moreover, the interest rates charged by micro financing institutions are
usurious.
Today, MFIs pay little attention to the core concerns of the poor. For them the critical concern
is to sustain services against emerging odds. We’ve seen a major mission drift in micro finance,
from being a social agency first, to being primarily a lending agency that wants to maximize its
profit. Thus, there is a great need to set out rules limiting interest rates and stipulating
legal consequences for the MFIs who badger/ harass borrowers for payments.

Case Study: How Starbucks use Green Marketing Campaign to Grow their Brand
Various strategies have been carried out by Starbucks in making green marketing campaign interesting.
That’s why it's interesting to discuss Starbucks in this article. Many kinds of strategies adopted by
Starbucks that I think are quite unique and very beneficial to the preservation of the environment, not
only interesting in terms of the product but also in terms of action to prove its seriousness in conducting
the campaign, and here are 3 Starbucks strategies that could be an inspiration for you:
1. Do modification in products
The first thing done by Starbucks is doing modification in the product. Taking into account a lot of cap
waste produced when the consumer has come out of the outlet, Starbucks started to think to create a
packaging that can be recycled easily. As said by Starbucks: “It’s our commitment to purchase only the
highest quality, ethically sourced and responsibly grown coffee. To reduce our own environmental
footprint and fight climate change. And to give back to the neighborhood and communities are a part of”.
2. Get opportunity in the earth day
Earth day is an important day as a tangible manifestation of environmental conservation. Starbucks
certainly does not miss to participate in activities that are routinely performed in commemoration of
earth day. Each year a different theme is set up by Starbucks to commemorate the day. They started
the campaign 3 years back and they made different theme on earth day every year.
3. Utilize Face book for campaign
Face book is a social media that are complete enough to provide the necessary facilities to its users, it is
not surprising that Starbucks chose to do green marketing campaign in Face book, Starbucks actually not
only choose Face book account but there is also use a Twitter, Google Plus and Instagram. But most the
activities can display that have been carried out by Starbucks is Face book.
Green marketing campaign is a new way of doing marketing; of course it is not easy to do this kind of
campaign, need totality and continuities to do that, so you will be taken seriously by your customers. With
totality businesses you can save the earth through your products and could even propitiate for consumers
who want to save the earth. Eco-friendly campaign can give you more profit-fold and revenue.

How to be an Entrepreneur?
There are ample opportunities for a person who comes up with a business idea, but it gets really hard for
one to execute business plans without money. Lower middle class people may have enough business ideas
and getting adequate funds is big problem. So, we have got a list of things by which you can flush all your
worries of funds prior starting your business. You can really do wonders by just pivoting, grinding, getting
creatively done, differentiating your business sense and that’s all. By just all this, you can simply go with
happy entrepreneurship.
So, check out these couple of things in detail before you really start up your business goals with empty
pockets and great business ideas.
1. Pivot- Use various services to generate cash flow and adequate funds for a product-based business.
Product or service based business can be really easy sometimes as the basic job is to get material in and
then sell. But, this needs to be really effective and must keep a check on your competitors. So, for this
the basic step is to have a keen knowledge on what type of commodity you want to do business and then
start collecting minimal funds for it. But, for buying products for your company you ought to have
adequate amount of funds that would at least help you buy the stock. And, if you are in a situation of
having no cash in hand, then definitely focus on maximum sale as it would generate the inflow of cash and
that would help you raise money for your business. Also, you can opt for finding a partner who would help
you get some necessary funds for your business.
Recommended: The Truth about Link Building in Top Startups
2. Grind the business in and out- There is no substitute for your hard earned money.
Many a times, when you just can’t make it happen then you have to get into the nerves and make it happen
anyway. Try to figure out the best possible way and people, who would not if help you financially but in
some other way. By this, I mean that you must look for option that if you don’t have a person to help you
with money matters then you must try and search for resources who can help you with getting the
product and base material. The first and last thing is never ever give up and work out for every possible
ways. Initially, you may not get returns but never forget that hard work pays for it.
Fortune crowns the bold before the worthy― Agona Apell,
Management Mirror 48
3. Get Creative- If not here, then move around there are endless funding resources. All you need is to
work really hard on it.
If failing several times, there you must be trying traditional and ancient methods that you have been
trying with entrepreneurial methods. This method suggests that to be successful, you must stick to one
agenda and not move from away it. But in the struggling period, be the toughest period of all and it
definitely lets you move away from your path. So, to get the heck of things you must visualize the things
you admire and present it in a more creative way, so that you excite people with it and people must get
you with needed funds.
Start using current resources in the newest possible ways – Sticking to the ancient methods doesn’t
interest people now, as people have really been round the world and have been adopting the latest trends
even when it comes to business related events. Figure out the best skills in you, give yourself some time
and then make a list of things that you can do highlighting your skills and how you can use them in the
best possible way to improvise and enhance your business leading skills.
Get a credit line – Just like a normal credit card, your business also needs a credit line. You cannot do all
the payments on regular times, as at times even your customers ask for a deadline for the payment
things. And, if you will not have regular inflow of cash how can you even think of the regular outflow. So,
every time you start up an enterprise always take care of developing interpersonal relationship with your
clients and the wholesaler also. This would help you with better credit lines and better cash flow in the
business. Also, make sure that a regular cash flow is must in a business as a greater cash flow would
generate in building a better business.
4. Highlight the key difference in you.
There are like thousands of people who come up with different business ideas. On an average, every
minute a new business idea may arise and it is obvious that every individual will have different ideas but
there are a lot of hurdles in executing the idea. So, always make sure to project how is your idea
different from others? What is the best in you and why only you can execute this well? Why people need
to raise funds for your ideas? This is something the most important tool and execution while starting any
business idea.
Thus, these points can be really helpful for a start that is lacking enough funds and if followed these
great business idea can do wonders. And, no doubt you would reach stars in just no or little time. So, in
the end I would suggest that always know what you are doing and what are you planning to do with its
proper visualization, creation and execution.

4 Basic Social Media Marketing Strategies to Upgrade with
Social media has matured into a potential business platform after being that after-toil fun spot. It was
back in the day perceived as the crazy reign-less horse of marketing, which has gone sane over the years
and also more tamable.
Social media participation and content creation are the most celebrated and up to the minute Inbound
Marketing Techniques that are all in rage. Be it those Face book and Instagram #hashtags or providing
customer support through Twitter handles, all companies are trying to set their foot into the game by
adopting the latest. MNCs are prioritizing Social Media participation as its apparently stealing the
spotlight from other marketing strategies and it is viewed as a solid basis of lead formation according to
the facts and figures.
Here are our top ranked Social Media Marketing strategies to assist you in upgrading your pre existing
ones.
Challenge: Creating Brand
awareness-
Be careful about how you create a Brand and
advertise it because the image you make is how they
would know you. Rather than trying to change the
brand image too often, try to stick to one image for
a longer period of time and steadily build that
image up to acquire recognition in that form and also
seem to be more reliable to the audience. Also,
rather than bland advertising and promotions, try to
create something more meaningful for a lasting
brand image and to create impact.
Determine relevant hash tags to be used and
consider engaging with the industry’s influencers,
create a strong and authentic brand personality.
Ensure your social goals-
Look in for the gap between the current position of your organization and the desired position. To fill
that gap in and overcome the social barriers, one should set up goals and objectives. However, it may be
strenuous and very complicated to hit the bull’s eye at times, but scrutinizing and critical analysis would
most probably help. Examples of some possible social media marketing barriers that may hinder
organizational growth can be low traffic on the website or a less loyal fan base. A smart and skilled set of
social media marketing professionals is likely to get you through these obstacles.
Focus on networks that add value:
A Network that has billions of users isn’t necessarily going to directly fetch you potential customers.
Instead of vaguely trying to advertise on every network available and trying to be everything, don’t lose
Even if you delegate that responsibility, ultimately you are the one responsible for howyour brand is portrayed.― Amber Hurdle,
Management Mirror 50
focus of your brand objectives and decide on a network that would accomplish the intention of you
reaching your target audience. Each Network has its own set of strengths and weaknesses. Examine
scrupulously and use them to your advantage.
For example, if you advertise on Facebook, it can lend you itslarge audience base comprising of 1.23 Billion
active users and the news feed feature that can double up as your product promoter, While LinkedIn
would extend the benefit of its professionally active 332 million users. Instead of catching users at their
personal time, LinkedIn enables you to connect to people thinking ‘businesses.
Reciprocity-
“What goes around, Comes around”.
Actively participate on Social Media and be aware of what’s trending. In order to be talked about, talk
about others as well. Share and discuss about the content published by others every so often.

Impact of digital marketing on Flipkart and Myntra
1. Flipkart spends 80 percent of its digital marketing budget on mobile
MUMBAI: While addressing a session at a marketing conclave in Mumbai, that debated the relevance of mobile marketing and the need to go app first for brands, Flipkart Ads business head Prakash Sikaria shared that the eCommerce giant spends almost 80 percent of its digital marketing budget on mobile. Sikaria’s confidence in the medium stems from the data the eCommerce site has gathered as an advertising and eCommerce platform that tracks its consumers’ usage behaviour on multiple screens. When posed with the question ‘is mobile a minor or a major screen’ Sikaria simply asked, ‘Is that even a debate’. To back his astonishment at the topic of debate, Sikaria shared that for aeCommerce company such as Flipkart going mobile first was only natural, given that more and more of the site’s consumers are switching to spending more time on their smartphones. “Just to put things in perspective, 3 hrs of mobile in India is equatable to 92 mins of television, which is in turn equatable to 31 minutes of desktop usage by viewers. What we see as a consumption pattern for several businesses mobile is the only screen in India, and going forward a large proportion of the time spent on any medium by consumers would be on mobile,” Sikaria shared, highlighting how India is unique in its mobile friendliness. Sharing some data the eCommerce platform has gathered from its own consumer research and data and analysis of consumer behaviour on the platform, around 50 per cent of the time spent on mobile is used for communication. According to the consumer pattern gathered from traffic on Flipkart’s mobile app and its web usage analysis, Sikaria inferred that usually customers try the mobile app first, and once they are convinced with the services and have grown loyalty towards the brand, they move to web. This places mobile marketing as the supreme most important requirement for a brand that functions mostly digitally, as it introduces the service to new consumers. “We have also noticed that across metrics there is better customer engagement and better customer experience on mobile from how much time consumers spend on the site per visit, to how many successful transactions they complete per visit,” Sikaria shared. As per Sikaria, once the user has jumped the hurdle of downloading the app, the engagement is far higher on mobile than on other medium like desktop, provided the app is designed conveniently for them. That is the reason every ecommerce site, every travel startup or web based business wants their app to by in everyone’s phones. It is to be noted that between the four to five major eCommerce players in the country, television media raised about Rs 1,200 crores in advertising revenue in a single quarter, albeit it was before Diwali last year.

2. Myntra’s Offline Push: 1st Physical Store To Open In next 90 Days; Collaboration With Retail Stores For Faster Returns.
India’s very own, home grown fashion portal Myntra is now taking the right steps, at the right time. After
returning to desktop mode, which indirectly helped to them clock a massive 23x more sales during their ‘End of
Reason Sale’, they have decided to venture out into the physical world. In a decision which would have far
reaching consequences for not only Myntra, but other ecommerce portals (especially those who are into
fashion niche), their first physical store will open in the next three months. As per reports coming in, Myntra’s
first outlet would either open in New Delhi or Bengaluru. Exclusive brands owned by them would be the first to
populate this store.
EO of Myntra, Ananth Narayanan, said, “We are exploring omni-channel. We should be able to create a physical
store in the next three months. We plan to launch omni-channel with our private brands — Roadster, HRX and
All About You,”
Myntra’s Diversifying Phase Is On
Besides opening their physical outlet, Myntra has cleverly decided to diversify into other segments within
lifestyle and fashion. For instance, home-furnishing. After they ventured into this category three months back,
they have witnessed whooping 50-60% growth every month, and right now, this niche constitute 1% of their
overall revenues. Besides focussing on home furnishing from now, Myntra is also keen to expand with fine
jewellery, personal care business and other niche categories.
Ananth said, “With fine jewellery, there is a question of security, expanding the number of pin codes we can
service and ensuring that the gold jewellery being returned after 10 days is the same. These will need
technology solutions..”
Myntra has made it very clear that their expansion mode would be now determined by providing high quality
products, via omni-sales channels and not discounts which was the norm earlier.
Offline Push Is The Need Of The Hour
Flipkart, which owns Myntra has already ventured deep into expanding offline, as they launched their
‘Experience Zones’ across 10 cities, and enabled ‘Click and Collect’ feature as well. Last month, Amazon too
embraced offline retail as they partnered with Vodafone to provide touch and feel experience for those
customers, who are still reluctant to buy online. Besides, Apple has already received approval for opening their
outlets pan-India; and Xiaomi, LeEco , Motorola and OnePlus are already present in the offline retail.
If we talk about fashion niche, then Aditya Birla’s Abof has recently acquired retail chain Forever21, which clearly showcases that online-only mode is now gradually transforming into a mixture of offline-online platform.

ECONOMIC CHALLENGES INDIA IS FACING
India is facing many challenges in economic growth. Most notables are fiscal deficit, inflation, high NPA’s, population growth, poor infrastructure and health care. Fiscal deficit: A fiscal deficit occurs when a government’s total expenditures exceed the revenue that it generates, excluding money from borrowings. India's fiscal deficit is among the highest in G20 countries. The large increase in public debt involving large interest payments year after year will badly affect economic growth through reducing investing resources for spending on infrastructure and social sectors (education, health, and housing).Fiscal deficit and associated borrowing is good as long as it is used for increasing public investment in physical infrastructure, education and health of the people. Even foreign investment depends on our success in improving infrastructure. Inflation: Inflation is the rate at which the general level of prices for goods and services is rising and, consequently, the purchasing power of currency is falling. Central banks attempt to limit inflation — and avoid deflation — in order to keep the economy running smoothly. Inflation is inversely proportional to currency strength. India is failing to meet its target inflation rate every year. In our country while growth is slowing, inflation remains at a high level.
High NPA’s (Non-Performing Assets): Indian bank’s total bad loans are near to Rs 6
trillion. Nearly 90 per cent of this is of public-sector banks. The NPAs have been
adversely affecting the banking system in the country. If left unattended, the NPAs
possess the potential to drive the Indian economy to a bottomless chasm at some point.
This scenario is likely to lead to a crisis situation in the banking sector, especially public
sector banks (PSBs), if these banks fail to find sufficient capital to refill.
To tackle this problem government has passed a new law named ‘the new Insolvency
and bankruptcy code, 2016 (IBC)’. It is the bankruptcy law of India which seeks to
consolidate the existing framework by creating a single law for insolvency and
bankruptcy.
The Code outlines separate insolvency resolution processes for individuals, companies
and partnership firms. The process may be initiated by either the debtor or the creditors.
A maximum time limit, for completion of the insolvency resolution process, has been set
for corporate and individuals.

Population Growth: India population is growing 14% per decade, leading to problems that include food deficits, pollution and unemployment. The living standards of most citizens are not changing. Over 30% of population is living below the international poverty line. Poor Infrastructure: Expansion of Public transportation, roadways, railways, waterways and sea ports have not met with population growth and led to poor industrial growth, agricultural growth. The government has been failing to invest in the infrastructure leading to poor performance of many sectors.
Healthcare: The public health system is poorly maintained by the government. The private healthcare sector is responsible for the majority of healthcare in India. Most healthcare expenses are paid out of pocket by patients and their families. As a result majority of our population which is still poor can’t afford healthcare and has no access to healthcare. To overcome this problem, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day speech of 2018, announced the launch of the Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Scheme. Ayushman Bharat is a National Health Protection scheme which will cover over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families (approximately 50 crore beneficiaries) providing coverage Upto 5 lakh rupees per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. Ayushman Bharat - National Health Protection Mission will subsume the on-going various centrally sponsored schemes. “I hereby declare that the above article is submitted by me for publication in Management Mirror-2017-18 Magazine was prepared by my own and I have neither copied from any of other materials already published to be published nor plagiarized.”

Managing stress at workplace
There are many facets in working persons’ lives that subject to stresses. They deal with home and family issues
as well as job stress on a daily basis. Imbalance between work and family life arises due to a number of factors.
Various factors appear to strengthen the brunt of pressure on working person. Better job opportunities have
increased independence and resulted in a new status and role in their families and society. In India, young
generation is becoming educated at very fast speed with vast verity of fields, and also doing different kinds of
jobs in different fields. While striving to prove themselves in a workplace, they still carry most of the
responsibility for home and family. Stress is a constant companion for many.
Working person in India has struggled to establish an
identity and create a space for themselves in their workplace.
The biggest worry of modern times is that we have more
time saving devices but less time. Working person is very
stressed by life which seems to keep speeding up on them.
They work longer hours and take less holidays. As the
income increases, stress also propotianlty increasing day by
day. People is sadder than ever before.
Stress is the emotional and physical strain caused by our
response to pressure from the outside world. Common stress
reactions include tension, irritability, inability to concentrate,
and a variety of physical symptoms that include headache
and a fast heartbeat. Stress is a condition or feeling
experienced when a person perceives that- demands exceed
the personal and social resources the individual is able to
mobilize.
S= P>R i.e., stress occurs when the pressure is greater than the resources. Stress is our body's way of responding
to any kind of demand.
It is recommended that decision makers have to provide their employees with a social and psychological
counseling and guidance in form of giving them spiritual experiences to reduce stress for their better
performance and development. It has been extracted from the literature that spiritual people can make better use
of spirituality in order to deal with stress at workplace. Organizational responsibility lies on implementing the
culture of spiritualism across the nook and corner of the workplace.

Don’t Quit
"When things go worng, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds arc low, and the debts are high.
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must,
But don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about.
When he might have won had he stuck, it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may he near when it seems so far.
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse,
That you must not quit."

The Unsung Hero: My Uncle
I experience a tremendous paucity of words when
I think of my uncle. The irreparable emotional
loss of his enlightening presence chokes me to
pen down something in black and white. Yet , my
love for him tempts me to the brink of writing a
panegyric. I will try to be candid in my approach
without eulogizing him.
Men fear death as children fear to go in the dark.
As for the virtuous men, the fear of death is
obliterated by their righteous ways. Death comes
to them voluntarily without any painful
entailments. They cease upon the midnight with
no pain. They pass away silently while
discharging their commitments. No leaves rustle,
the decrepit body willfully detaches itself from the soul which now enjoys eternal bliss. I
know it is easy to talk of the soul but it is always tough to avoid the craving and yearning for
a bodily presence. I being one of his kinsmen, would never compromise to the loss of my
uncle. I would revel in luxuriating over the sorrow of his passing away.
Shakespeare says , “ Some men are born great; some achieve greatness; some have
greatness thrust upon them by others.” To me my uncle achieved greatness by dint of his
varied capabilities- brilliant engineering skills, thinking, planning and above all his
philanthropic activities. His head was as cool as the Antarctic ice and his fierce spirit to
work was the relentless lava of Mount Etna. He was an embodiment of compassion, icon of
generosity, hallmark of kindness and epitome of selflessness.
Wearing a cool countenance, the “lake Placid” (as often called by one of his soul mates)
spread his humaneness wherever he went. On one of my many short term interactions, he
shared with me the inadequacy of time to fulfill his altruistic dreams. Unaffected and
unwavered by the ‘rat trap’(material allurements offered by the modern society to which all
human beings fall a prey to.), he went on and on , unfazed, deeply engrossed in
developmental activities to educate and uplift the poor and the needy till he breathed his
last.
His life is an example to be emulated by all of us who are able to eke out some time to look
sensibly at our deprived counterparts considering them as the plenipotentiaries of God.
Though the society at large did not bestow the honour of greatness upon him, he has indeed
made a big difference in the life of the people around him –his relatives, friends, colleagues
and the impoverished denizens of his village. He is a hero, an unsung hero who lived
unknown and died unknown leaving behind footprints to be followed by all good human
beings of this world. On this fateful day, I remember him and offer my sincere prayers to
God for his soul to rest in peace.
