Department of Mechanical & Civil

Engineering jointly hosted this event in

Association with Indian Concrete Institute,

Bengaluru Chapter & Institute of

Engineers, India, Karnataka state Centre,

also technically sponsored by Karnataka

Bio-Energy Development Board and

Karnataka state council for Science &

Technology. This event was also supported

by SNS construction as an Industry

partner. The need of the seminar was to

encourage young minds and their research

abilities by providing an opportunity to

meet the experts in the field of Biofuels ,

Bioenergy or any other alternative fuels

that can sustainable for the transport sector.

The objective of the seminar is to provide a

platform for an interaction among

academicians, scientists, Engineers,

students to discuss about latest advances,

“Failure analysis of Engineer-

ing Structures” during 26th to

27th March 2018.

Chief Guest of the Program Dr. P SAMPATH KUMARAN addressed the delegates and de-scribed the need of study of failure analysis of engineering structures. In Association with ICI, and also technically sponsored by Society for Failure Analysis (SFA), Bengaluru to achieve the following objectives

To provide understanding of the origins, causes, consequences and practical Appli-cations of failures.

To Review Some of the techniques and methods of Failure Analysis.

To Develop an understanding of failure functions, concepts and techniques.

To Integrated solutions for precise failure analysis and material testing.

“Recent Scenario of RMC in

India” On 5th March 2018.

Deminar Program was inaugurated by the

Chief Guest, Er.Ravishankar M,Chairman, In-

dian Concrete Institute, Bengaluru Centre,

Principal Dr.Suresha, Sri Venkateshwara Col-

lege of Engineering and Dr. H N Rajakumara,

Head of Department, Civil Engineering, Sri

Venkateshwara College of Engineering, Facul-

ties and Students. Present workshop presents

the real facts and scope of RMC’s in India. In-

spite of some constraints, RMC has very bright

prospects in middle to long-term time frame in

India. The availability of quality RMC equip-

ment indigenously produced or assembled has

brought down the capital cost considerably.

The trained and skilled manpower to operate

RMC plants is though in short supply but grad-

ually increasing due to better awareness and

career prospects in this industry.

“Quantity Surveying, Budget-

ing and Costing” 6th & 7th April

2018.

Chief Guest Engineer. M Nagaraj Retd Execu-tive Engineer & State member, IEI KSC to addressed the gathering in a very inspirational and motivational manner to elevate the student’s interest to attend the seminar. The academic syllabus is technical knowledge base for the students which will help them cultivate technical knowledge but the implementation of the is what industry requires and hence we found it is necessary to organize such a two days national seminar where they can gain the knowledge about estimation, costing, tendering & contract etc. by interacting industry oriented experienced resource person. The chief guest continued his talk by creating awareness among the students about the job availability after under graduation and post graduation.

“Application of EIA, RS and

GIS in Environmental

Engineering” 27th March 2018.

Around 200 students of SVCE and 11 faculties from other institutions were participated. Dr. Vinod A.R presented a Technical Seminar on Application of EIA in Environmental Engi-neering. The seminar briefed about the need of EIA in analysis of a project based on the Impacts, economic benefits of the projects and other social gains and to support the sustaina-ble management operations. Dr. Vinod A.R highlighted the application of EIA in policy making to evaluate the projects, environmental consequences and makes decision whether to go ahead with the project or to restrain the activities. and also about the ideal EIA system, Goals of EIA, Stages of EIA processes .Preparation of EIS reports/Draft EIA, Environmental clearance procedure in India, Role of MOEF in EIA studies were discussed in detail. of Bridges” 11th to 14th April

2018.

The programme was started with lamp lighting

by all dignitaries. All the dignitaries were

invited to speak about their view, and felicita-

tion was done by the Dr. H. N. Rajakumara,

Professor and Head, Civil Engineering Depart-

ment to the our Chief guest and Resource

Person Dr. Virindra K Rainaand to Vice Prin-

cipal, SVCE. The Resource person Described

the varies Bridges existing around the world

such as, Golden Gate Bridge-San Francisco,

Norway.. etc. His description included the

past, the present and the future of Bridges

relating to the Architectural aspects.

“Recent Advances in Civil

Engineering” [RACE 2k18] 2nd

and 3rd

of April 2018.

Seminar Program was inaugurated by the Guest, Er. Kaushik Hajra, Ex-Secretary, Indian Concrete Institute, Karnataka, Bengaluru Centre, Principal Dr.Suresha, Sri Venkateshwara College of Engineering and Dr. H N Rajakumara, Head of Department, Civil Engineering, Sri Venkateshwara College of Engineering. The objective of seminar is to understand recent developments in the field of Civil Engineering in construction industry, academia and research field. The present curriculum of many universities in India is not sufficient to fulfil the stare of work knowledge in the field of Civil Engineering as per industry standards and demand. Therefore these kinds of technical seminars will enhance the knowledge of participants by filling up the gap between industry and academics. In this seminar many experts from industry and academia will address the participants in various domain of Civil Engineering.

3 Days National Level Workshop On “Advanced Surveying

Instruments” On 19, 20 and 21st April 2018

The programme was started with lamp lighting by all dignitaries, and Invocation song by

Ms Namratha, 8B. All the dignitaries were invited to speak about their views, and felicita-

tion was done by the Dr.H.N.Rajakumara, Professor and Head, Civil Engineering Depart-

ment to the Chief Guest Mr Rangaraju. L.A, Sales Manager, Lawrence & Mayo. Pvt (ltd)

and eminent speaker of the day Mr V Nagaraja, Managing director, MAPPA as gratitude.

Mr.V.Nagaraja started with history of surveying and briefly discussed about the survey

equipments in 1980’s that is about traditional chain surveying and advancement of the

technology taken place in last 30 years . He also discussed about the present scenario of

surveying by using LIDAR and Drone surveying. The discussion mainely focussed on the

LIDAR surveying ,its objectives, effectiveness and efficiency compared to earlier survey-

ing technologies.Sir explained about Terrestrial and Arial LIDAR survey.Difference be-

tween Total station and DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) methods were

discussed in detail in the session. The time consumption in years for different methods of

surveying to collect details of about 1 Million points were discussed .In the LIDAR sur-

vey it will take few minutes where as traditional survey will take years together to collect

the same information. So modern survey equipments have reduced the time and workman-

ship compare to the old survey techniques.

Visit to Dandelli and Supa Dam for VI SEM and VII SEM Sec-

tion on 28/04/2018 to 30/04/2018.

Industrial visit is considered as one of the tactical methods of teaching. The main reason

behind this- it lets student to know things practically through interaction, working meth-

ods and employment practices. Moreover, it gives exposure from academic point of view.

Main aim industrial visit is to provide an exposure to students about practical working

environment .They also provide students a good opportunity to gain full awareness about

industrial practices. Through industrial visit students get awareness about new technolo-

gies. Technology development is a main factor, about which a students should have a

good knowledge. Visiting different companies actually help students to build a good rela-

tionship with those companies. We know building relationship with companies always

will always help to gain a good job in future. After visiting an industry students can gain a

combined knowledge about both theory and practical. Students will be more concerned

about earning a job after having an industrial visit.Totally 93 students were attended the

industrial visit to gain their knowledge
