Admission Requirements(Prerequisites)

• High School Diploma or GED• Designated level on standardized nursing preadmission test (2 attempts

allowed)• High school or college chemistry and biology with a transcript grade of

C+(77) or above (i.e. better than a C) within 7 years prior to matriculation in Nursing

• NursingABC courses are not acceptable• Math placement into MAT 114 within 2 years prior to matriculation in

Nursing • 80% in all sections of Nursing Math Entrance Exam taken within 2 years

prior to matriculation in Nursing (2 attempts allowed)• English and Reading placement at college level proficiency• 2.6 (C+, 77) Cumulative Average – grades are not rounded

Students with Advanced Standing• Currently licensed Practical Nurses (up to 8 hours of transfer credit)

• Transfer students from another RN school (credits-within 5 yrs- individually reviewed; B or better grades); recommendation letter from Chair of program required

• Qualified re-admitted nursing students (credits individually reviewed); must meet current prerequisites

• Required advanced placement course offered during the summer semester.

Graduation Requirements• All requirements outlined for the AAS degree in college catalog

• All Nursing Courses completed with M (Mastery) or above

• 2.0 in required arts and science courses except BIO

• BIO 171, BIO 172 and BIO 205 completed with a C+ or above & within 7 years of matriculation in Nursing (hands on labs required)

• Nursing faculty approval

How to apply• Apply directly to OCC; include Nursing Program Application (no fee)• Send SUNY application for OCC Nursing ($50 fee – subject to

change) and submit Nursing Program Application to College• Matriculate in Nursing if prerequisites done and you are accepted• Matriculate in Math/Science and complete pre-requisites, then submit

Nursing Program Application• Matriculate in Math/Science and begin program requirements (Arts

and Science coursework), then submit Nursing Program Application• Submit Re-Admission to College form & Nursing Program

• Cumulative GPA• Courses taken within the last three years of education that meet the
