    Depth Imaging

    DownUnder GeoSolutions utilises its own

    proprietary depth imaging toolkit designed

and developed by its R&D group. The tools

    have far-reaching capabilities, having been

developed to meet the requirements of the

most demanding regions in the world.

DownUnder GeoSolutions (Dugeo) has extensive experience

with complex depth imaging projects from all major oil

precincts. This combined experience, along with our advanced

toolkit, means that we are ready and able to tackle any project,

    large or small.

The highlights of the depth imaging toolkit include:

    Kirchhoff migration:

    True relative amplitude

    Isotropic

Anisotropic (VTI, TTI & Tilted Orthorhombic)

    Beam

    RTM:

    Isotropic

    Anisotropic in development

    Reection and refraction tomography:

Parabolic, non parabolic picks or rst breaks

    Smoothing constraints

Supports lateral and depth variable pick weighting

    Pick condenceMulti-azimuth

    Anisotropy aware

Complete control over what region of model to update, independent of pick distribution

    Unlimited model size

    Depth variable smoothing

Picks can be volume or horizon based or combinationof both

Reweighting during optimisation so that outlying picksdo not inuence nal results

Better imaging is evident throughout the section. The dipping events from the centre to the bottom right of the section are particularlyimportant.

While the initial processing tends to be somewhat bland in character, DownUnder GeoSolutions reprocessing displays more detailed and subtlevariability leading to accurate stratigraphic interpretation.

The interactive parts of the toolkit are

embedded in DUG Insight, our multi-

    dimensional visualisation and

    interpretation software. This allows the

    geophysicist to immerse themselves

in the data to truly get the best results.

DUG Insight Depth Imager module is now available

    commercially.

DUG Insight (full 2D/3D pre-stack intepretation system)

    has functionality for:

RMO picking (volume and horizon based)

    Velocity model building

    Velocity model smoothing

Dip picking with pick condence based smoothing

    Gamma displays

    Panel parameter picker

    Unique vector moveout overlays

Assorted velocity model manipulation utilities(for example 2D vels to 3D volume)

    Figure 6

Multiple iterations of reflection tomography are run to optimise the velocity model. These figures show how the tomography updated the model with a low velocity zonecoinciding with a volcano, resulting in an improved image and more accurate structure.
