Wife and I are getting along fine here in the garden of Eden where the flower gardens are in full bloom too beautiful to behold. You must see to realize how beautiful this home of the braves and their beautiful wives is. The old boys are dropping off pretty fast. Yesterday we buried the first woman (colored) under the honor of the military rule. The Pinckneyville boys and their wives are getting along fine. Comrad Davis and wife are quartered in cottage 20, Comrad Logan and wife are in 24 with wife and I. A good many are going out on furloughs of 90 days. Some of you Perry county folks might come up and see us we have plenty of room to entertain you. Excursion boats from St. Louis almost every day. Hundreds visit the home.
