Master  Project  1:  Interoperability  in  Smart  Distributed  Power  Systems  (collabora<on  with  IFE)

•  Motivation: • Challenge to regulate voltage

and frequency in a distributed renewable energy based power systems

• Need to monitor and control “all” power devices in the systems

•  The need for all devices to interoperate •  Many standards. No universally accepted standards. Legacy

systems •  Main goals: (1) assess the interoperability requirements

and challenges in local distributed power grids (2) recommend robust architectural approaches that will ensure interoperability now and in the future (3) simple demonstrator

Distributed crowd-sensing using multi-hop communications

Key  Challenge  in  APISENSE:  Privacy  to  ensure  that  user  data  does  not  disclose  sensi/ve  informa/on  without  user’s  agreement

not  always  possible  as  it  is  not    possible  to  trust  a  remote  server

Anonymizing    Data?

A  collabora<ve  approach:  equipments  in  smartphone’s  vicinity  to  conduct  sensiAve  treatment

Solution

Master  Project:  building  a  local  network  of  co-‐located  smartphones  (via,  e.g.,  Bluetooth  or  Wi-‐Fi  Direct)  to  perform  mulA-‐hop  communicaAons

Master  Project  3:  Distribu<ng  Sensor  Services    to  IP-‐enabled  systems

•  Motivation: •  Increasing number of

WSNs+IoT applications • Distribute WSN services to

modern IT systems •  The need for a software framework for distributing

sensor services •  Component-based and standard distribution model

•  Remora component model: developed by ND •  Distribution model: REST architectural style •  Main goal: enabling RESTful distribution of services of

Remora components

Master  Projects  4:  playback  of,  and  seamless  switching  between,  synchronised  video  files  stored  in  the  cloud

29 September 2014

Synchronized videos stored in the cloud

It should be possible to switch from the

video currently playing to another, with no pauses or hickups

in playback

The player should function in all well- known web browsers, also on smart phones

Programming languages
