Identifying textiles in the home.

On A4 lain paper, draw as many textile products you can think of that are in your house. Try to

identify what fibres they are made from e.g. cotton, wool etc. Annotate your drawings with this

information.

Colour in your pictures as neatly as possible.

On plain A4 paper, design a new logo for Kettering Science Academy – produce a minimum of

4 designs neatly coloured using colouring pencils.

Draw using pencil.

REMEMBER – logos need to be simple. Use a maximum of 3 colours per logo.

Homework Task: Sketch your school shirt on a plain sheet of A4 paper.

Look at your school shirt and see what fibres it is made from (look on label). Are the fibres

man-made or natural? If you can, find out how the fabric is constructed (is it knitted or

woven?? Explain why this is a good fabric to make a shirt from.

Annotate your shirt drawing with your findings. If you can, try to identify and label seams,

buttons etc to show construction.

On a sheet of plain A4 paper, create a name and logo for a new chain of hotels. Produce at least 4 logo

designs with your chosen name. Remember to use limited colours and render to a high standard using

colouring pencils.

You could research other hotel chains as an extension.

Homework Task:

Research different types of uniforms on an A4 moodboard. This can be done by sketching, collecting

pictures from magazines, or images from the internet.

Use your moodboard to design a uniform for the hotel staff, incorporating your logo design from the

previous homework task. You should design a minimum of 4 uniforms and present your final design on

a separate sheet of A4 paper, showing front and back views. Zoom in on sections if appropriate to

show detail.

How long do you have to complete this task: 1 week

Homework Task: On A4 isometric paper, design a room for your new hotel. This could be a bedroom, reception area or restaurant for example. You must use a pencil and ruler to draw with, and colour carefully using colouring pencils. You should try to show texture and tone where appropriate.
