SPECIFICATIONS – CONSTRUCTION WORK
1. SECTION 087100 FINISH HARDWARE, Paragraph 2.05A Delete Items Nos. 3 through 6 and
add:
“10. Furnish uncombinated cores/cylinders for keying by Best Access Solutions, Code 330
Keyway K BE1C7K1-626.
11. Furnish sufficient drivers, core springs (1 bag of 22S), pins (1 bag each of A-0 thru A-5.
B-2 thru B-19) and caps (1/bag of 21C) for pinning by the Facility.
12. Furnish 50 blank Best keys.”
2. SECTION 331216 WATER UTILITY DISTRIBUTION VALVES, Part 2, Add paragraph:
“2.08 LINE STOPPING
A. Line stopping may be done by equipment manufactured by “Hydra-Stop”
Inc., or “IPSCO” International Piping Services Co.”
SPECIFICATIONS – PLUMBING WORK
3. SECTION 409213 ELECTRICALLY OPERATED PRIMARY CONTROL VALVES: Discard
the section bound in the Project Manual and substitute the attached Section (409213-1 through
409213-3) noted “Revised: 11/30/2017.”
4. SECTION 331210 WATER SYSTEM CONTROL, Delete entire section.

PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 FLOW CONTROL VALVES
A. 131 Series, as Manufactured by CLA-VAL. Model 131G-

1. Valve body and cover: epoxy-coated ductile iron, flanged ends, 250 PSI.
2. Disc retainer and diaphragm washer: cast iron.
3. Stainless steel valve trim: removable cover bearing of the main valve, the
disc guide, and the main valve seat
4. Disc: Buna-N Rubber
5. Diaphragm: Nylon reinforced Buna-N Rubber
6. Stem, nut and spring: Stainless steel
7. Electronic controller: VC22-D Series powered by 115 volt single phase
power supply from the main control panel on the skid. This device shall have
a 115/60, 10 amp output for each of the command solenoids. It shall be
configured to receive a 4-20 mA command signal and a 4-20 mA feedback
signal. Contractor will be responsible to make connections to these terminal
strip contacts. The VC22-D will initiate appropriate valve modulation based
upon deviation. The controller shall be provided with terminal strips clearly
marked for connection of power supply, command and feedback analog
signals.
8. Additional features: flow clean strainer, pilot isolation valves, flow control
(closing), check valve with isolation valve, CV flow control (opening),
internal check feature.
9. Provide two (2) solenoid valves on the valve pilot system to be controlled by
the electronic controller. Each solenoid will have a by-pass valve to allow for
manual override.
10. All pilot tubing and fittings shall be stainless steel.
11. The valve inlet and outlet will have installed 4 ½” oil filled gauges, with
gauge pressure readings of 0-160 PSI.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 INSTALLATION
A. All valves and valve accessories shall be installed by workers thoroughly experienced
in such work and all valve work shall be properly supported and aligned and present
a neat and workmanlike appearance. All other required temporary or permanent
supports for the valves shall be included in this contract to the approval of the
Engineer.
3.02 INSTALLATION OF VALVES AND ACCESSORIES
A. Inspection - All valves and accessories are subject to inspection by the Engineer at
the point of delivery for manufacturer, direction of opening, freedom of operation,

tightness of pressure-containing bolt, cleanliness of valve ports and especially seating
surfaces, handling damage, cracks and any other damage.
B. Valves found to be either defective or damaged shall be rejected and immediately
removed from the job site.
C. Handling - All valves and boxes shall be loaded and unloaded by lifting with hoists
or skidding under control with ropes in order to avoid shock or damage. Under no
circumstances shall valves and boxes be dropped.
D. Storage - Valves, joint accessories and valve boxes, if stored, shall be kept safe from
damage. The interior of the valve and the joint accessories shall be kept free from
dirt or foreign matter at all times.
E. Installation - All valves shall be set in a plumb position.
F. Perform operating tests on valves as per the manufacturer’s recommendations to
determine they are in satisfactory operating condition.
G. The electronic valve controller shall control the solenoids on the combination
electronic flow limiting valve based on the 4-20mA flow command set-points and a
4-20 mA feedback signal from the PLC provided with the water softener skid. It
shall receive a flow set-point for the purposes of blending raw water and treated
water. The valve shall maintain a remote (flow) set point, based on the flow
generated by the blend meter from the PLC. In the event of a power failure, the valve
shall remain in its last position.
H. Electronic controller shall be installed and wired to the valve solenoids and the main
control panel by the Contractor.
I. An authorized factory agent with not less than ten years of experience with these
components shall be available for ½ day (4 hours on site) to perform the valve start-
up services. The agent shall program and calibrate the electronic controller which
shall receive a remote 4-20mA set point (desired flow) as an input to the electronic
controller. This same agent shall be available for a second, ½ day (4 hours on site)
start-up service call if required to verify field wiring of the valve to the PLC/main
control panel.
