Continuous progress of theslipform from foundation block at ground level till stack top at 103 m elevation.
Assembling of theslipform, with whichthe stack’s concreteshell has been built.
To build this chimney, it has been necessary to pour the concretewithout any stop by using a slipformequipment.
Design and execution of a concrete stack with an internalanti acid brick lining for a float glass furnace in Brazil.
Design of 103m concrete stack for a glass float in São Paulostate (Brazil), according to the regulations in force in Brazil.
The concrete shell has been done with a 6.40m diameterslipform. The foundation is supported by piles. An internalanti-acid refractory liner using tongue and groove anti acidbrick has been installed.
The stack has two main large
openings: one fordirect connection
to the furnace andone for connection
through the filter.The design of
these openings inthe bricks has
been done with aspecial care using
specific bricks,refractory, steel
reinforcing frameand the use of a very precise
constructionmethod to ensure
the stability at each stage.
After execution of the concrete shell, the internal liner, made of tongue and groove anti acid brick designedfor 600°C has been installed. An external insulation reduces the temperature drop increasing the natural draft of the stack and allowing a visit access betweenthe concrete shell and the brick lining.
Implementation of the bricks of theinner liner with a self-motorisedworking platform hanging fromconcrete stack top.
Implantation ofthe rebars while
the slipform is lifting.
Design of openings using a 3D FME model to optimizethe reinforcement. Stabilitywith wind and earthquake
studied in accordance to Brazilian Codes.
