Design Your Very Own City
with Parallel Lines,
Transversals and
Special Angles!

To design your own city using parallel lines, transversals and special angles.
1) Your city may be designed by hand or by computer. Color and neatness will add to the total point value.
2) Your city design must be created on a poster board no larger than 11” x 14”.
3) Give your city a name and place it at the top of your city design.
4) Include the city’s population underneath the city name.
5) Your city must include the following in order to receive full credit:
- 6 parallel streets (each street must be named) - 3 transversal streets (each street must be named)
1) Your house and a restaurant
as alternate exterior angles,
2) a library and a general store
as alternate interior angles,
3) a gas station and a church
as corresponding angles ,
4) a school and a park
as same side interior angles , and
5) a courthouse and a bank
as vertical angles.
Title: One point will be given for the city name (school appropriate)
and the population, both of which are placed at the top of
the city design. One point will be given for the design being
placed on poster board up to a maximum size of 11”x14”.
(Possible points = 2)
Streets: One point will be given per parallel and transversal street,
placed correctly and labeled with school appropriate names.
(Possible points = 9)
Buildings: One point will be given per building, placed correctly and
labeled with school appropriate names.
(Possible points = 10)
Creativity: A total of four points may be given towards creativity,
neatness, effort, and overall presentation of design.
(Possible points = 4)
