Old Queens head is the oldest occupied domestic building in thecity. The timber framed building is thought to date from c.1475.

The old original fireplace is said to be the place one spirit likesto stand and look around as though he recognises the place,but not the furnishings. This spirit is said to be a Civil WarSoldier from the time Oliver Cromwell ordered SheffieldCastle to be taken, and the Duke of Arundel took the castle.

To this day it is believed that the pub still has its ghostlyvisitors, though people have become more accustomed to them.They still shock and surprise some unsuspecting customers –so remember, if you are wanting that quiet pint to wind down,you may not be alone!
