Independent since 1974, Grenada's history includesits first inhabitants of Arawak and Carib Indiansthrough to its occupation by the Spanish, Frenchand the English who have left their influences onthe islands. Grenada is blessed with pristine beaches and theseinclude forty white sand beaches and nine blacksand beaches that are cooled by the steady tradewinds.

The most famous of these beaches is Grande AnseBeach, which boasts two miles of soft sand thatfronts beachside restaurants, the Vendors Marketand the largest concentration of hotels withinGrenada.

Morne Rouge Bay, the rugged La Sagesse andMagazine Beach are great for Watersports. PinkGin with its views of St George’s, numerous barsrestaurants and activities provide all the fun a visitorcould crave.

Scuba diving throughout Grenada is somethingextra-special with over 50 great drift, reef and wreckdives to investigate including the world famousBianca C known as the 'Titanic of the Caribbean'.

The South Grenada Regatta, based at Le PhareBleu Marina & Boutique Hotel, is the highlight ofFebruary in the Caribbean for both sailor andspectator who can enjoy the exciting races inseveral different classes: with spinnaker, withoutspinnaker, catamaran and fun class.

The event begins with a Count Down Party with livemusic, Curry Night Special and an extended HappyHour in the Poolbar Restaurant.

Taking place in Clarkes Court Bay the first race dayis a special day of Match Racing and commencesat 9am Friday 24th February. A barge with a bar islocated in the centre of the Bay for watching theraces and also as a staging area for crews beforethe race. A free water taxi from Le Phare Bleu tothe Match Race Island & Bar is offered so that youcan't be closer to the action!

Saturday and Sunday offers the main race dayswith further entertainment and services for thespectator. Powerboat rides with Seafaris around theBay are available, Pirates Trail for the kids andeach day ends with a prize giving and race party.Dance the night away to Live Music and soak upthe atmosphere in the Poolbar Restaurant.

Attracting visitors from across the world, the AnnualCarriacou Parang Festival is a spectacle not to bemissed.

The festival has revived and kept alive the traditionof 'house to house' serenading of string bands andhosanna carol singing and today includesperformances from local, regional and internationalentertainers and more.

Carriacou Parang is filled with fun, humour,excitement and musical entertainment. The festivalhas now been extended over the entire weekendand climaxes with the much-anticipated ParangString Bands Meléé competition.
