OLD TOWN, BUT PRETTY FUNKYTurku, a pearl of the Baltic, is Finland’s number one summer destination. Bisecting Turku city centre, the river Aura flows through the most beautiful cityscape; past great restaurants, cafes bursting with atmosphere, perceptive works of city art as well as fascinating muse-ums. The mouth of the river opens out to meet the

tens of thousands of islands known as the Scandinavian Islands. The most numer-ous archipelago in the world stretches all the way from Turku to Åland and onto Stockholm.

Turku has a long tradition as a port; Hansa ships sailed the Aurajoki River already back in the Middle Ages. Today Turku welcomes cruise ships from around the world. We have a wide variety of tour options to sup-port cruise line revenue, but we also recognize that some guests want to do their own thing. Whether passengers or crew, the city of Turku looks forward to offering you a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Turku is a particularly fitting cruise destination – it is, after all, the place where the world’s largest cruise ships are built.

Scandinavia’s archipelago starts just off Turku’s coast in Finland’s southwest and stretches all the way to Stockholm. The archipel-ago, which has been called the world’s most beautiful, includes 40,000 islands and reefs. It is the biggest archipelago in the world by the number of islands, and a phenomenal natural sight, the beauty of which comes across even when viewed from the deck of a large cruise ship.

Turku is on the southwestern coast of Finland. The fairway leading into Turku goes through a unique and beautiful archipelago. The port is conveniently located where the sea meets the river, sheltered from wind – no tide, no congestion. The city centre is only 3 km and the international airport 11 km from the port.

As a small cruise port Turku can guarantee personal and dedicated service for both the crews and the guests. The cruise vessels are welcomed with live music and dance. A tourist information desk with staff is available at the pier and free shuttle buses go be-tween the pier and the city centre throughout the call.

”Fast, safe and efficient vessel service is an important part of the services

offered by the Port of Turku.”

Port of Turku offers smooth bunkering, provisioning and waste disposal services. Waste management is carried out according to the vessel’s individual needs. Reductions on port fees can be provided if waste handling is made in a desirable way. As one of the few ports in Finland the Port offers also environmental discounts bound to the nitrogen oxide emissions of the vessel. The Port’s environmental work focuses on improving the state of the Baltic Sea.

Right next to the Port is the fascinating island of Ruissalo with its beautiful nature. It is a perfect recreational area for both locals and guests, easily accessible by land and sea. Many other attractions are located close to the Port, which makes it easy for cruise guests to discover much in one day.

”In 2025 a new joint ferry terminal is planned to start operating in

the Port of Turku. Apart from liner traffic it will also serve international

cruise vessels calling Turku.”
