Developing a Strong Work Ethic by Touring With Celine
Dion
Without a doubt, Celine Dion is a recognized name in both the American and Canadian music industries. For Yves Frulla, playing
keyboards for the artist during live performances has been an eye-opening
experience. He credits the experience with helping him build a strong work ethic.
Celine Dion grew up in a family of music lovers. She began singing at the age of 5 with
her older siblings. When she was 12, Ms. Dion composed and sang a song that was
sent to a manager who immediately saw her talent. He mortgaged his house to help her record her first album. By 1982, she won a gold record in France, the first Canadian to
ever achieve that honor. When she released her first English-speaking album, in 1990, titled Unison, she broke into the American
market and became an international success.
It was the tour for Unison where Yves Frulla became her keyboardist. As the singer has an English following and a French following,
her schedule is hectic. Fitting in time to rehearse is important but also challenging.
Her musicians have needed to adjust to meeting tight deadlines and learning new music in a hurry. As a result, strong work
ethics became invaluable.
