about us | HTI develops leaders of the future. A not-for-profit organisation with a 25 year proven track record working across business, education and government to raise the aspirations and employability of young people. We challenge, stretch and develop leaders who go on to inspire our next generation.

“Young people have one chance to prepare themselves for adult life. Great teachers make the difference to their start in life. But great leaders develop great teachers – and we at HTI develop great leaders.”

wELCoME to HtI | We at HTI are passionate about ensuring that young people have the best start in life.

We work with leaders at all levels in schools so that they can inspire their students.

As Chief Executive of our Charity, I feel enormous pride in having led HTI since 1996. In my time, we have gifted over £1.5 million to school projects, teacher fellowships and education opportunities. Our goal has always been to ensure that the beneficiaries are young people – not commercial stakeholders.

Our partnerships are strong, our networks are vast and our track record is for you to share. We love working with you to support your vision for your school.

We provide leadership training and development programmes to thousands of your education colleagues every year. As one of the country’s top providers, we have an extensive portfolio of development programmes, all based on what works in schools and for school leaders.

As well as activities unique to HTI we offer outstanding opportunities in partnership with others, both nationally and internationally. In this way you can benefit from learning and practice that are successful in all types of educational situations and appropriate for the individual needs of all participants. For over a decade we have been one of the National College for School Leadership’s top providers, delivering programmes on their behalf.

A special feature of many of HTI’s training programmes is comprehensive diagnostic reporting. Diagnostics allow participants to fully understand their own development needs, take ownership and direct their own learning.

A unique opportunity to learn from outstanding practice overseas and help provide genuine practical ideas for your school.

Short Study VisitsUnderstanding the challenges faced by schools and colleges in another country and culture provides an exceptional professional development experience. Short, structured visits can be focused on aspects of school management or curriculum-based. Several opportunities focus on developing why some countries perform better than the UK in the OECD PISA study. Visits are structured around the needs and experience of the participants and tailor-made for groups from clusters or individual schools. More details are given on the dedicated website www.ipde.org.uk

Visits to Developing CountriesFor several years we have offered effective professional education experiences in developing countries, in association with Merganser Consulting. They provide an unrivalled opportunity to get “inside” the professional issues in a range of international settings. Teachers have found these opportunities challenging, highly energizing and instructive. Opportunities include visits to classrooms, discussions with heads and meetings with senior education professionals at regional and national level.

ENVIRoNMENtaL PRoGRaMMEsGreener CommunitiesIt is important for schools to have access to safe, fun and educational outside spaces to enhance learning. HTI Greener Communities programmes broker relationships between businesses and their local schools, with businesses providing the funding and the workforce (their employees) to complete a project. For example, schools with underutilised space in their grounds could create allotments or sustainable biodiversity areas for the benefit of the whole school community.
