• The mission of the CMAE is to:
– advance the profession of club management throughout Europe,
– promote best practice in the club industry, and
– provide a certification programme which recognises and rewards those club managers that can demonstrate the highest standards of knowledge and competence in club management.

• One of the core objectives of the CMAE is to ensure that all club management education is:
• Structured– There must be a planned programme, teaching to the
required standards in a logical order
• Relevant– Subjects taught must be relevant and appropriate
• Accessible– Offering competitive value for clubs and individuals

• To do this, the CMAE has been working with 22 different organisations across Europe
• Club managers associations and sports governing bodies
• The network has grown to 6,500 club managers in 28 countries
• Our partners will be delivering the CMAE curriculum in their own countries, either in English or in their own local language
Certification
• Certified Club Manager (CCM)
– An aspirational benchmark for club managers to work towards
– International standards agreed by USA, Canada, Europe, South Africa, China and Australia
– First CCMs in Europe in 2008

Five Day Courses
• A programme of five, 5-day courses
– Curriculum based on the CMAA’s Business Management Institute (BMI) curriculum
BMI 1 to BMI 5
• Club Management Levels One and Two will be offered to our partners to deliver in their country
• The CMAE Club Management Diploma will be optional after completing both courses
• The remaining three courses will be delivered by the CMAE and staged at appropriate learning locations
• The CMAE Certified Club Manager (CCM) exam optional after completion of 4 courses
Five Day Courses
• Monday to Friday, 6-8 hours a day
• Classroom based learning
• Residential – accommodation will be included
• Faculty from the club business and academic partners
Pilot Courses
• Presented by the Scottish Golf Union
• Club Management – Level One– Stirling, Scotland– October 31 – November 4, 2011– March 12 – March 16, 2012
• Club Management – Level Two– Stirling, Scotland– March 12 – March 16, 2012
Course dates and location for winter 2012 /13 to be announced in early 2012.

• The CCM Exam:– Exam Day:
• Part One – a multiple choice exam of 200 questions• Part Two – questions on a case study, candidates must
provide detailed written answers
– Pass Mark:• Minimum 50% in all 10 subjects• Minimum 70% overall

• The CCM Exam:– CCM exams are held twice a year
• March/April and October/November
– Managers can sit exams locally• Proctored at a local university or college• Same date & time as others across Europe
– Managers can register to take CCM exam anytime• Registration forms on website

• Eligibility to take the CCM Exam
• Applicant must fulfil 4 requirements:
1) 6 years in a management role at a club (with a minimum one year as a CMAE member)
2) Attendance at one World Conference (USA)

• Eligibility to take the Exam continued:
3) 200 Education Credits• College and University courses; trade and professional
qualifications; seminars, workshops and conferences
50 Association Credits• Membership; service on boards/committees; supporting your
association; writing articles; giving presentations
50 Additional Credits• Either Education or Association Credits• Credits for experience (5 per year, max 50) will end in 2016

4) Completion of CMAE Management Development Programme:
• Currently – One course (BMI International)
• After 1st January 2013 – Two MDP courses
• After 1st January 2015 – Three MDP courses
• After 1st January 2017 – Four MDP courses
