Gaining feedback

• After producing our first draft of our ancillary texts and trailer, we wanted to

collect the constructive criticism from our target audience in order to gain an

insight of what they think of, and thus allowing us to improve our final

media products.

Initial Magazine Cover

• Initially we wanted our main model in our magazine to be

the antagonist, hence we took a couple of test shots and

were fond of a particular shot which you can see on the

left. We began to play around with the effects and caused

her eyes to be fully black in order to show that she has no

soul. We then allowed our audience to view our first draft

and the main criticism was that they believed that the main

model should be the final girl. Hence we scrapped our first

draft and began editing a photo we had of Angie (Vanessa).

We played around with the burn and dodge tool to make

Angie look abused and conform to the horror convention

of abuse to characters. After reviewing our magazine again,

our target audience said that the improvement was

extremely good and were also overly content with the final

product, however they suggested that the text should be

outlined with White in order to be able to see it more

clearly.

Improvements in the Magazine

• We took on board what our target audience suggested and immediately acted

upon it. We boarded all the necessary dark, hard-to-see text with a white out line

and this immediately improved its visualisation. The audience believed that this

slight improvement made a huge impact and made the overall magazine to look

clearer and more professional.

Initial Poster

• Our audience was overly pleased with our initial

poster. They believed it executed the concept of

portraying that the film is a horror due to the dark

smoke effects and the girls looking ‘dead’. They

also appreciated that it was washed down with low

key lighting. However the major crisis said was the

they found it difficult to read the titles and the tag

line. The suggested that the size of the text should

be slightly larger but not overly large to dominate

the poster, and to also increase the saturation of

the text colour to make it more visible. They

suggested to move the awards logo to a lower kevel

as the said it look slightly awkward being above the

girl.

Improvements in the Poster

• We enlarged our title more as well as changingthe font colour to a deeper red. This in turncomplements the concept of developing theconvention of death as the colour of reddenotes blood. We also texturized the tilemaking it more rough and thorny which alsoin turn complemented the concept of usingroses in our film. We moved and addedawards to the bottom of the poster as it looksmore professional this way, furthermore, weadded the date of the set release for the filmas this is what is expected in any poster sinceit gives information our for the audience.

Initial Trailer

• Our target audience was content with our initial trailer, however they

suggested that we should incorporate text in order to fill the blank spaces

since it put awkward silences with in the trailer as well as the audience simply

waiting for the next thing to happen. Furthermore they also suggested to put

in a surprise scene to shock them and to leave a lasting impression that this

film is a horror.

Improvement in the Trailer

• We took o board what our target audience said and

decided to incorporate text which in turn also gives

clues towards the potential plot of the narrative. Hence

this improvement was also informative. Furthermore,

we added in a scream after the credits appeared as this

leaves a lasting horrific impression on the audience as

well as clearly exemplifying that this will be an intense

horrific horror. By adding in the blood text it suggests

death and as well as adding a sense of creepiness,

furthermore more by adding in the scream it conform

to the horror genre of seeing pain.

Conclusion

• As a group, we do believe that by taking into account of what our target

audience suggested has dramatically improved our final products. Also, our

horror promotional package is for our target audience hence it is greatly

important that we please them and we do this by taking in consideration of

what they would like to see with in a horror promotional package in order

for it to be successful .
