A Letter from the President Hello Sisters of Cleveland East Delta Gamma!

If you are new to our group, WELCOME! If you are a bit “rusty”,

come back and join us for a year that will hopefully engage, enter-

tain and educate! Our programming focus for this year “DG in CLE”

will take us in many wonderful directions.

Delta Gamma’s second annual “Do Good” Week begins September

13th. We are encouraging all sisters to do a good deed in our local

community, whether it’s “paying it forward” at a coffee shop, deliv-

ering baked goods to your local police or fire department, picking up

trash in a local park or delivering flowers to an elderly neighbor.

This small effort is a great way to connect back to Delta Gamma’s

“Do Good” mission. You can continue to participate in our DG “Do

Good” Week by attending our first meeting on Thursday, September

17th at the new home of Charlene Ferko. We will gather at 6:00PM

to share a potluck dinner and an evening of sisterhood. Bring a

greeting card to our meeting that might be appropriate to mail to a

veteran at our local VA Hospital, simply a card of cheer or apprecia-

tion for their military service. Let’s start our new year remembering

our mission to

“Do Good!” by honoring others who have served us and their coun-

try.

I look forward to seeing you all on the 17th! I can’t wait to hear all

the efforts of Cleveland East to “Do Good!”

From the Outgoing President

Dear Delta Gamma Sisters, In February, I got on a plane with my 3-year-old on our way to Florida for a week with my parents. My husband would be flying down a few days later so I was on my own with her. As we lugged our carry-on luggage through the plane, I looked at the numbers and realized that we were in the last row. Oh, boy! The flight attendant saw us coming and asked the woman in the aisle seat to get up for us and guess who it was? Elaine Voyer! I felt relieved because you never know who you’re going to be next to and how they will react to sitting with a 3-year-old. We were thrilled to see each other and the flight attendant said, “What a small world! How do you know each other?” And Elaine said “We’re sisters!” in a tone to imply that the flight attendant should have known that two women about 50 years apart in age would be sisters. I feel blessed to be able to have a moment like this. And I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to lead our group for the last two years be-coming so connected to our sisterhood. I know that this experience has set me up for more wonderful DG moments. We started out this year cele-brating Elaine’s big birthday and we end the year praying for her to get well. Please keep her in your prayers and have a fun and peaceful sum-mer. ITB, Sally

Chapter Meetings

Welcome Delta Gamma Sisters to another wonderful year! We look forward to seeing all

of YOU at an upcoming meeting and also getting to know all of our new members!

Reservations to all chapter meetings are made in one of two ways. The first way is

through your caller and the second is electronically through evite. Please note I need ALL

reservations the Sunday prior to the meeting.

If for any reason you have to cancel your reservation for the meeting, please contact me

as soon as possible. I will do my best to adjust the reservation with caterer. However, it

is a long standing policy that if you respond "yes" to dinner and do not cancel, you will be

charged $10 for the meal cost. This fee can be remitted to the treasurer after the meet-

ing. If you still want to come to the meeting but do not want dinner- that is perfectly fi-

ne. Just let me know in your reservation response and I will not include you in the dinner

count.

The wine club seems appears to be working for everyone who likes a glass of wine at the

meeting. There is no cost...just bring a bottle of wine to the first meeting (or the next

meeting you attend) and we will put a sticker on your name badge indicating you are part

of the club.

PLACE STAMP HERE

Join your Delta Gamma sisters for another exciting year of programs featuring all things Cleveland. Our “DG in CLE” theme will highlight Cleveland culture, arts, and history. This fall and winter, immerse yourself in our city’s greatest happenings, explore places you’ve never been too, and meet locals who will share the great things they do in Cleveland.

“We’ve got world-class experiences without the world-class ego.”

This year we will rotate our meetings between Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. with social time, and dinner will begin around 6:30 p.m. Due to the nature of some of these events, we ask sisters to please bring $10 with them for dinner cost, or we will be trying out a new place to eat and hope that every-one joins (see note below regarding the Art Museum tour). Please cancel by the Sunday prior if you are unable to attend, otherwise you are responsible for your $10 dinner fee. Contact Charlene Ferko (216-408-6725, [email protected]) for any cancellations. Detailed Evites will divulge all of our activities and will be sent out via email 7-10 days prior to the event, so mark your calendars and get ready for an urban adventure with your sisters!
