2 Product overview

The DIGISOL DG-WN1150N Wireless LAN PCI Adapter is a powerful PCI adapter that

installs quickly and easily into PCs. The adapter can be used in Ad-hoc mode to connect

directly with other wireless adapters for peer-to-peer file sharing or in Infrastructure mode to

connect with a wireless Access Point or router for access to the Internet in your office or

home network.

The DIGISOL DG-WN1150N Wireless LAN PCI Adapter connects you with IEEE

802.11b/g/n networks at up to 150Mbps. DIGISOL DG-WN1150N Wireless LAN PCI

Adapter provides you the flexibility to connect to wireless products found in homes,

businesses, and public wireless hotspots. In either mode, your wireless communications are

protected by industrial-strength WPA, so your data stays secure.

3 System requirements

The following system requirements are recommended

A desktop computer with an available PCI slot.

An IEEE 802.11b/g/n Access Point (for Infrastructure mode) or another IEEE

802.11b/g/n wireless adapter (for Ad-hoc, peer-to-peer networking mode).

Windows 2000/XP/Vista or Windows 7.

100MB of an available disk space.

CD-ROM drive

4 Driver and hardware installation

4.1 Driver installation of DGWN1150N Wireless LAN PCI

Adapter

SWITCH THE COMPUTER OFF, remove the computer cover and insert the

wireless network card into an empty PCI slot of your computer and then replace the

cover.

Connect the antenna to the Reverse SMA connector on the mounting bracket of the

PCI adapter by rotating the antenna in clockwise direction as shown in Fig 4-2.

You can rotate/tilt the antenna to fit actual needs.

To improve the wireless reception, please adjust antenna to the proper position.

When you restart your computer, the ‘Found New Hardware Wizard’ screen will

appear (Fig 4-5). Click ‘Cancel’.

Insert the Installation software CD into the CD/DVD ROM drive of your computer,

and execute ‘Setup.exe’ program. Please read the end user license agreement and

select ‘I accept the terms of the license agreement’. Click ‘Next’ to continue.

It is recommended to install driver and utility if the network adapter is being

installed for the first time. If you want to update the driver only, choose ’Install

driver only’. Click ‘Next’ to continue.

You can choose the configuration tool used to configure the wireless network adapter. It is recommended to select ‘DG-WN1150N 11n Wireless PCI Card Configuration

Tool’, which provides full access to all functions of this wireless network card. If you

prefer to use the wireless configuration tool provided by Microsoft, please select

‘Microsoft Zero Configuration Tool’. Then click ‘Next’ to continue.

Please click ‘Install’ to begin the installation. If you see ‘Found New Hardware’

message again, please ignore it and wait.

Please wait while the installation process is running. When you see the following

message (Fig 4-10), please click ‘Finish’ to complete the installation process.

5 Connecting to a wireless network

After the installation is complete, wireless configuration utility will appear on the

desktop of your computer automatically. You will also see an icon at the lower-right

corner of your windows system. You can right click the icon and select ‘Launch

Config Utility’.

The configuration utility will scan for available wireless Access Points and display

them in the list (Fig 5-2). Select the Access Point to which you want to connect. Then

click ‘Connect’. In case the wireless Access Point you want to connect is not

displayed in the list, please click ‘Rescan’.

If the wireless Access Point uses encryption, then you need to enter the required

WEP key or WPA preshared key which can be obtained from the network

administrator. Then click ‘OK’ to connect. If the wrong key is entered, you will not

be able to connect to the wireless Access Point.

If the wireless Access Point is successfully connected, the symbol will appear

against selected wireless Access Point.

Now you have finished the configuration.

6 FAQ

Following are the solutions to problems that may occur during the installation and operation

of the DIGISOL DG-WN1150N Wireless LAN PCI Adapter.

1. I cannot communicate with the other computers linked via Ethernet in the

Infrastructure configuration.

Make sure that the PC to which the DIGISOL DG-WN1150N Wireless LAN PCI

Adapter is associated is powered on.

Make sure that your DIGISOL DG-WN1150N Wireless LAN PCI Adapter is

configured on the same channel and with the same security options as with the other

computers in the Infrastructure configuration.

2. What should I do when the computer with the DG-WN1150N Wireless LAN PCI

Adapter installed is unable to connect to the wireless network and/or the Internet?

Ensure that the LED indicators on the wireless Access Point/router are functioning

properly. If not, then verify whether the AC power and Ethernet cables are firmly

connected.

Ensure that the LED indicators for the Access Point/broadband router are indicating

normal activity. If not, there may be a problem with the broadband connection.

Verify that the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS settings are correctly

entered for the network.

In Ad-hoc mode, both wireless clients will need to have the same SSID. Please note

that it might be necessary to set up one client to establish a BSS (Basic Service Set)

and wait briefly before setting up other clients. This prevents several clients from

trying to establish a BSS at the same time, which can result in multiple singular BSSs

being established, rather than a single BSS with multiple clients associated to it.

In Infrastructure mode, make sure the same Service Set Identifier (SSID) is specified

on the settings for the wireless clients and Access Points.

Verify whether the network connection for the wireless client is configured properly.

If security is enabled, ensure that the correct encryption keys are entered on both the

DIGISOL DG-WN1150N Wireless LAN PCI Adapter and the Access Point.
