Brief History

Dhek Bhal - a Punjabi term meaning “caring for” or “looking after”.

Established in 1986 as Barton Hill Asian Women’s group, in partnership with British City Council.

Initially catered for South Asian women in Barton Hill, Easton and St Paul’s.

Evolved into a Bristol wide service.

Current name adopted in 1994.
