NOTA
The following 1/4-tone notation is used :
Score in C
The piece is dedicated to the players of the Mercury 4tet - Harry Cameron-Penny, Vlad Maistrovici, Corentin Chassard, Antoine Françoise - to whom the piece was written.
no vibrato until specifically called for
dynamics notated above the staff generally denote smaller and more personal changes in dynamic, contrary to bigger, collective gestures.
notes with a crossed beam should be played as fast as possible.
hold note until the end of the black line
Instrumentation:
Clarinet in Bb (doubling Piccolo Clarinet in Eb)Violin (doubling Viola)'Cello
Pianoforte equipped with:
- two small eg. metal-work hammers, that are light enough not to damage the strings.
- 2 opera gongs - one bending the pitch up- wards and the other downwards - to be set on either side of the player [high to the left, low to the right], each equipped with its own mallet
The smaller microtones are ordered as follows :(note that arrows are applicable in both directions, and on all accidentals)
dedicated to the Mercury 4tet
