1 PRODUCT DESIGN LAMP DESIGN

PHOTO LAMP

While researching on innovative ways to merge 3D Printers and product design, a cre-ative lamp seemed to be the right idea for a brand new product.

The Photo Lamp is composed by several pieces which createe the structure where the desired pictures would go. Each and every piece of the lamp has been crafted using a Rep-Rap 3D- Printer using Abs plastic, except for the bulb and the wiring, of course.

PIRATE’S SPIN

3 PRODUCT DESIGN PIRATE’S SPIN

Pirate’s Spin is an enjoyable toy which allows kids have fun by playing with the sand, building sand castles on it and, as they roleplay, spin the wheel around to demol-ish the structures which they have previously built on it .

In the early stage of the design process of this product, when defining the user’s profile, we decided to create our product for all those naughty kids who enjoy being naughty, destroying stu and getting messy in the way. Our mind was on developing a toy which was both fun to use and educational, but this latter one in a non-conventional way.

Pirate’s spin was selected to be shown as a new proposal from junior designers at Trends & Kids exhibi-tion in 2014, where the major toy companies in Spain participated.

You can watch the presentation video used on the Trends & Kids exhibition on the following link:

5 PRODUCT DESIGN HEADPHONES

Leviathan Headphones are a retro-look Headphone set aimed at young people from 16 to 30 who have a strong interest in the fashionable trend of vintage and old school-looking accessories.

Those parts which are in contact with the body are cushioned with foam and covered by brown leather, providing a cosy and skin-like feeling.

For the other exterior parts, a combination of black and white plastic (which reminds of bakelite) and chromed metal for the adjustable size mechanism.

SOFA Nº1

7 PRODUCT DESIGN FURNITURE

The concept behind Sofa nº1 was to create a couch which enables dierent possibilities. It is divided into 2 dierent modules, where the first one is twice as long as the second one.

When you are inviting friends over, you can separate the modules and position them in a way which allows a better communication, or you can then join them back to use it a bed.

Sofa nº1 was inspired by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona armchair. The padded upholstery wasn’t present in the prototype due to the limited budget. However if it were to be industrially manufactured, the production costs would have been lower.

SEA ME

9 PRODUCT DESIGN VEHICLE

In our modern world society is in the search of an eco-logic and compact car which is suitable for their day to day city life. Sea me is a three wheeled vehicle for two passengers and has smaller size than a regular city car. This allows you to park in smaller parking slots where a car wouldn’t fit.

It is powered by an electric engine located inside the rear wheel. You can find the two large batteries which power the engine, right under the driver’s seat. The tricycle batteries are located right under-neath the seat, which can be easily accessed to replace them when necessary.

FLICKER

11 PRODUCT DESIGN CELL-PHONE HOLDER

Its main use is to hold up straight touch pad mobile phones while the user is working on a desk. This enables interaction with the phone to become easier, since the screen will stand facing towards him.

For those days when, after hard and long working hours, you feel like disconnecting for a while, but seeing your workmates keep on working even harder and you cannot stand it. Just turn Flicker around and be creative.

Its second use is much more fun. Flicker has been designed to annoy your most beloved friends, class mates, mates at the oce, or basically anyone you find around by shooting small and unharmful projec-tiles at them. Just take whatever small piece of paper/-object that you may find around, place it in the marked spot at the back of “Flicker’s head” and flick it towards your target.

CHAIR-REDESIGN

The brief of this project indicated that the student should give a better use to an obsolete chair, which either hadn’t been used in a long time or had been found at the trash. Recycling was the main idea and the concept behind this chair was to make it useful for guitar players.

This product enables guitar and bass players to play their instrument in a more comfortable way. It has a stand on each side where you place your foot to straighten the instrument into a more ergonomic position. The back of the chair has several bass strings which embraces you while comfortably resting your back on it .

DUSTBIN

The key aspect of this project is the use of renewal materials in the urban environment. The waste dispos-al components are made from a combination of recy-cled grinded wood compacted using resin.

This dustbin is divided into three dierent parts:

The structure is the main one which holds the rest of the elements. it is made with hollow steel.

Both the container and the shelter are made from recycled wood and resin, allowing it to resist weather. It can be easily built into the structure and ease the waste removal from the container.

LEDs have been chosen as light bulbs to provide a more sustainable lighting for pedestrians, in combina-tion with the streetlights. The cables would go through the hollow steel structure into the power source, located under the base.

17 GRAPHIC DESIGN CORPORATE IDENTITY

CORP. IDENTITY

Graphic design is an important role of an Industrial Designer. Since the most important part of any prod-uct design is for it to be sellable, taking care of the graphic design of a product will make it more attrac-tive for customers.

Quiropráctica Rocafort is a real business which I chose to make the Corporate Design for. In order to make a good design which suits the business, I produced a questionnaire where customers evaluated visual char-acteristics of the business.

The final product was a manual which established how to use the business’ logotype, typography and colours. On the right, you will be able to see examples of the material included in the Corporate Identity Manual.

19 GRAPHIC DESIGN CORPORATE IDENTITY

CORP. IDENTITY

For the corporate designed mentioned on the previ-ous page, I also had to create a new graphic design for their website. The image on the side shows an exam-ple of the new website applying the rules stablished on the Corporate Design’s Manual for QUIROPRACTICA ROCAFORT.

The new website is an interactive website. This is seen when hovering the mouse pointer over certain places. An example of this is shown on the image located on the right side of this page.
