BETHANIA JUNE Difference THE ACTIVITIES APLENTY HERE AT PALM LAKE CARE BETHANIA I’d like to take the opportunity to welcome our new residents and families to Palm Lake Care Bethania. As the cooler months arrive, Palm Lake Care Bethania moves full steam ahead and there is no slowing us down - not even in the colder weather! We have a number of small improvements in the works at present and one of these is our trial of extending the Lifestyle Team hours to include Saturdays. We are in the early stages, however, the trial has been well received. At Palm Lake Care Bethania we value social interactions with our residents and families and opportunities to interact with the greater community beyond our front gate. I was delighted to be part of our resident group that attended the local Phoenix Ensemble’s production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ last month. It was lovely afernoon shared with laughter and smiles. ACTIVITIES APLENTY HERE AT PALM LAKE CARE BETHANIA

I’d like to take the opportunity to welcome our new residents and families to Palm Lake Care

Bethania. As the cooler months arrive, Palm Lake Care Bethania moves full steam ahead and there

is no slowing us down - not even in the colder weather! We have a number of small improvements

in the works at present and one of these is our trial of extending the Lifestyle Team hours to include

Saturdays. We are in the early stages, however, the trial has been well received. At Palm Lake Care

Bethania we value social interactions with our residents and families and opportunities to interact

with the greater community beyond our front gate. I was delighted to be part of our resident group

that attended the local Phoenix Ensemble’s production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ last month. It was

lovely afternoon shared with laughter and smiles.

SOCIAL INTERACTION IS KEY

We all like to feel like we belong, feel safe and happy. Attending group activities and

social events helps us maintain our current friendships, make new friends and feel

like we are part of a greater community. Social interaction at any age is important

to our overall health and mental wellbeing and can improve mental sharpness,

reduce depression and improve our physical health. So even attending an activity,

just to watch, support others who are participating or for a conversation can be a

benefit. Our Lifestyle Team has been focusing on some bigger events and outings

this year to keep us connected to the outside community while also ensuring

connection to our Palm Lake Care community here at Bethania. By having bigger

events here means we are able to include more of our community. This promotes

friendship among the residents and gives more residents the ability to benefit from

social interaction. We look forward to seeing you at our next activity!

an abundance of fruit growing, with thanks to these keen green thumbs! Pictured below left: Len Olsen was among a group of Palm Lake Care Bethania

residents who travelled to see Phoenix Ensemble’s production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ recently. It was a wonderful excursion that helps keep our

residents connected to their local community.
