    nightly. The theme this year

    is Kingdom Rock.

Our ongoing conversations with Second Presbyterian Church regarding unit-ing our congregations are going very well. Our five-member team has beenmeeting regularly with their five-member team and we are making steady

progress on writing the proposed Plan of Union.

The Proposed Plan of Union will include recommendations on the following:

    Name of congregation

    Location of congregation

Leadership model of congregation (bicameral or unicameral)

    Staffing for new congregation

Method of combining assets, property and liabilities

We plan to provide the Proposed Plan of Union to both sessions in July orAugust. Then, we will call congregational meetings at each church for a

Sunday in September. One month prior to the meeting we will provide thecongregation the Proposed Plan of Union so that you may review it beforethe vote at the congregational meeting. We will also have meetings in theweeks leading up to the congregational meeting at which members and

    friends may ask questions.

If you have any questions at this time, please contact Deborah Dail or anyother member of our Plan of Union Team (Dale Pennell, Fred Wong,

Carolyn Woodard, Becky Skaar or Jim Wightman).

There are times when your only transportation is a Leap of Faith. Ourchurch has long been in need of a van to provide transportation for those whowould otherwise be unable to attend Church, Sunday School, Faith Weaversand our Summer Lunch Program. We have long been in need of a vehicle forPrime Timers to use on their short jaunts and adventures. We also need a vehi-cle for carrying supplies hither and yon for our homeless programs and for ouryouth when they have an activity off the Church grounds. We need a vehicleto help our senior adults attend events at the church when they are unable todrive. We have so many opportunities to share our love of Christ if we can

bring people into our lives that would be unable to get here without transpor-

tation. I have taken my own Leap of Faith and will be chairing the efforts toraise the money for the purchase of a van. Will you take my hand and leapwith me? From donations to ideas for fundraisers to prayerswith the supportof this congregation and the help of God I know we can do this! Verni [email protected]

Pictured are Haiti Mission Team Membersand their friends and loved ones who came tohelp at the second work day on Bill and DeeJones' West Point property properly named,

"The Rivah." Extensive yardwork, car detail-ing, powerwashing, and interior windowwashing had volunteers sweating all day in

preparation for their mission trip to Haiti.Money donated goes towards this Summer'strip to Passe Catabois. This year, not only willteam members be doing construction labor,

but Denbigh Presbyterian will also be holdinga three-day Vacation Bible School in the village of Myet (the village with the church family

who took an offering for our church when we had an arson.)

On a regular schedule, Denbigh Presbyterian Church conducts a service at The Gardens atWarwick Forest. On July 29 Deborah Dail will conduct the service. This is a multi-centerfacility for those who are in nursing care, rehabilitation, and hospice. The worship servicelasts for approximately thirty minutes and includes all the elements enjoyed during our SundayServices. We need volunteers to sing, read, or just visit with those who attend. It is a blessingto all and a great opportunity to reach out to those who cannot normally attend Christianservices. For more information or if you would like to help, please contact Rusty Norton (cell757-814-1091 or email [email protected]). Blessings to all, Rusty

Adult I will study the meaning and context of worship with readings in the Old Testamentbooks of Isaiah, Ezra and Nehemiah during the summer quarter which began June 2 and con-cludes August 25. All are welcome Sunday mornings at 9:15 in the Conference Room.

    INTRODUCTION INTO SMALL GROUPS

The Small Groups Team is moving forward on implementing Small Groupsfor the fall. With the potential merger with Second Presbyterian Church aswell as the number of new members and those who have been with the churchfor some time, we believe Small Groups will help us get to know one another

on a more spiritual and personal level. Deborah introduced this topic in herJune 9th sermon and sign-ups have begun.

Small Groups: The purpose of a small group is to make disciples. Before wecan grow as disciples, we must be a healthy, loving community. The apostlePaul used the term koinonia (Greek for community) 13 times. Each time hespoke of a Christian relationship that is ours through the Holy Spirit, imitatingChrist by producing the kind of love that acts for the good of others. It creates

bonds that cannot be destroyed. Small Groups will be starting at DenbighPresbyterian Church this fall and are a great way to make friends, growas disciples and experience koinonia. Groups will meet on a regular basisfor Bible study, fellowship and prayer. Want in-depth study? Desire a day ornight group? Available on a specific day or night? Prefer a group of men, women, or couples? Need childcare? Interested in a topical Bible study?Stop by the kitchen counter and look for the Adult Ministry sign for

Small Groups to learn more and sign up.
