Paphos is Growing AgainThe latest government statistics of all home sales showmarked improvements across the island. In Limassol,where traditionally the property prices are much higherthan in Paphos, a total of 130 property sales wereregistered in October. Paphos come second, with 90sales. To break down the October figures still further,Paphos District registered 50 sales (55% of sales) tooverseas buyers whilst Limassol only managed 27, or21%. Fitzgerald’s had 7 buyers in October and 9 inNovember with 7 villa sales for the two months.

The heightened interest in Paphos properties by theoverseas investors is particularly positive. There isnow a major shift in property preferences with villas as

the main buyer focus, when only a few months ago, most properties sold wereapartments. The greater willingness to make a more substantial propertyinvestmernt in Paphos carries with it, we believe, a broader market sentiment thatCyprus is performing admirably well given the national circumstances.

The Cyprus is about to reach another historic milestone in creating a centraliseddatabankof all property transactions. New German flights for Paphos (CyprusMail)

SEVEN NEW flights a week operated by airline Germania will connect Paphoswith five German airports from next year.

The Paphos regional board of tourism confirmed that the flights would commencein March 2015.A spokesman noted that the development was an important move for Paphos andhad come about through the cooperation and efforts of the tourism board, theCyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO), airport operator Hermes, and airlineGermania.He added that the airline currently has a fleet of 23 aircraft and flies to 150destinations. The new flight schedule which will connect Paphos Internationalairport with Germany is expected to begin in March 2015 and includes seven flightsa week from five airports, Dusseldorf, Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen and Erfurt.

He said: “We welcome this development which is very important and verypromising since it greatly enhances the accessibility of Cyprus and Germany. It alsocontributes to the efforts to extend the tourist season, penetrates into a key marketand aids the development of special interest tourism.”

The spokesman noted that relevant promotions, public relations initiatives,advertising and other campaigns in Cyprus and abroad, are a coordinated effort withthe airline to ensure success of the venture and possible expansion in the future.

Dozens of items uncovered at Paphos Agora site

Pottery of differentcategories, terracottafigurines, coins and metalobjects, were found in awell excavated during thePaphos Agora Project, aspart of archaeologicalinvestigations into whatwas once the ancient cityof Nea Paphos, thecapital of Cyprus in theHellenistic and Romanperiods.

According to the department of antiquities, during the fourth season the aim wasnot only to excavate and provisionally study the uncovered material, but also toconduct preservation work and to implement new, non­invasive research techniquesalready partly tested during the 2013 season.

The non­invasive research was conducted by specialists from the AGH Universityof Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland with the laser scanning of trenches,and the J. Kochanowski University in Kielce, Poland with georadar prospection.

The excavated well was filled­in with rich movable material and earth. Pottery ofdifferent categories, such as fine wares, plain wares, cooking ware and transport

amphorae, some of whichbore stamps, were found.

The team also foundterracotta figurines, coinsand metal objects.Amongst the metalobjects were three slingbullets, two of which weredecorated with a reliefdepicting scorpions andthe third with arepresentation ofthunderbolt.
