Vector images vs Bitmap imagesVector images store the lines, shapes and colours of an images as mathematical formulae. When you enlarge a vector image, the formulae work out the new sizes and shapes, so there is no loss of quality.

Bitmap images are made up of millions of squares called pixels. They have a fixed image resolution, and if you try and enlarge them you will lose picture quality.
