Digitize Penny-wise
An overview of the Newfoundland and Labrador Legislative Library’s frugal
digitization project

A Brief History
Digitization Project began in 2011• Faced difficulties with the
initial company responsible for material scanning
• Scanning was done inconsistently, so PDFs needed to be separated, checked for errors, and many needed to be re-scanned
Queen’s Printer is now scanning additional materials at no cost

Currently online back to 1980
1970s will be available by the end of 2014
1960s must be re-transcribed, as they were not originally published• Hansard staff currently

as soon as 1960s are complete

Informal partnership with Memorial University’s Centre for Newfoundland Studies to complete the digitization of historic Journals• MUN “responsible” for 1868-
