I enjoy treating both adults and children with a variety of infectious diseases which allows me to experience the full breadth of medicine. While I enjoy many aspects of Infectious Diseases, one thing that attracted me to the specialty are the opportunities for quality improvement. My research interests include stewardship in both testing for C difficile and outpatient antibiotic use, and integrating technology into medical curriculum. I chose to go into Infectious Disease because I enjoy the broad spectrum of infections we encounter, involving multiple organ systems, in patients of all ages and health. Every consult is a new challenge or puzzle to decipher. I also enjoy working in a multidisciplinary environment, receiving consults from all over the hospital. In my free time, I love traveling during non-pandemic times, watching football (Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes), practicing yoga, and playing board games with my husband. On most nice days, you'll usually find me outside on a hike with my dog, Belle, especially at her namesake, Belle Isle!

I love ID because it is the "system that affects all systems" and really allows you to use combination of history, physical, diagnostic results to reach the answer as to what is ailing a patient. No shortage of challenging problem solving and always something interesting to see! In particular, I hope to care for families with HIV and serve as part of their medical home.

I love living in Richmond and all of the fun things to do. In particular, I love cooking and even film pretend cooking shows for Instagram, so my husband and I love to explore the elaborate restaurant scene the city has to offer. I'm also fortunate to have my sisters and their families living in Richmond, so I get to spend a lot of time with my family.

ID: I love ID for so many reasons, 1. Since childhood Learning about microorganism and their mechanism of causing infection

has been very exciting to me! It has always fascinated me more than anything else.2. I like to solve puzzle games and mysteries, establishing source and etiology of infections

make me like playing those games!3. I feel that field of Infectious Disease is very rewarding, in most cases we witness as positive

outcomes in a day or two and that is always very exciting

My research interest: Encephalitis and Meningitis (including, viral, bacterial and fungal)

I enjoy cooking, sampling different cuisines, travelling with husband, learning and exploring different customs and cultures. I love music and dance as well!

ID is an amalgamation of all the aspects of medicine I love – developing long term relationships with patients over the years in clinic, using clinical reasoning to solve complex cases, and working with the best teachers in the field. I’m particularly interested in HIV and medical education. When I’m not in the hospital, I’m with my husband and our two dogs out and about on walks through the city and taking on some seriously ambitious home renovation projects.

I find the diversity of patient cases promised by a career in ID to be equal parts challenging and rewarding. I have particularly enjoyed managing patients with HIV/AIDs and opportunistic infections. My research interests include viral hepatitis.

I love going on road trips with my husband. We enjoy exploring different hiking trails and cafes on our days off.

I am fascinated by microbiology and love how Infectious Diseases allows me to couple this interest with diagnostic reasoning to care for others. I am passionate about caring for patients with HIV and other immunocompromised individuals. My research interests include epidemiology and infection control. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy going to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, visiting with family and spending time with my senior rescue dog.
