The movement toward the de-institutionalization of senior living environments has been a focus of our work for the past two decades. The physical manifestations of this movement have been expressed in a variety of ways - from organizing resident bedrooms in neighborhood clusters to small households and GreenHouse® model designs. Ultimately the goal of all of these models is the same, to support the dignity, privacy, choice and wellbeing of the resident in a way that works best within the financial and operational framework of our clients.

As part of the care a community provides are opportunities for active learning and journeys that allow for independence and often times significant contribution to society. Whether simply reading in a classroom, participating in distance learning, developing new art skills or learning a new trade, we have created spaces that allow communities to provide such opportunities to their residents.

The benefits of an active mind is indisputable

PLAY

Similarly to learning, a key element in creating a high quality of life for elders is to be creative, social and to participate in activities. Whether outside playing bocce or inside playing pool and board games, we seek to create spaces that are flexible to accommodate both current and future program needs. One of the most sought-after spaces are multi-purpose spaces that can be used for everything from yoga to performances. We are also seeing an increase in state-of-the-art fitness and wellness centers.

CARE

A major goal of any assisted, skilled nursing or memory support community that is designed or built today is done so with the goal of independence for the resident. The community not-only has to be a home, but should enable rather disable the resident to find more of a norm in their daily activities.

Care to provide dignity and independence
