AAJA DINAH ENG LEADERSHIP FELLOWSHIP Application Applications must be received by March 5, 2012 The Dinah Eng Leadership Fellowship was created to widen opportunities for Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) members to enhance their skills to enter and advance within the management ranks of the news industry. About Dinah Eng Dinah Eng is a columnist and freelance writer for Scripps Howard News Service. Ms. Eng, a past president of AAJA is the founder of the AAJA's Executive Leadership Program and served as its director for its first 15 years. She has received numerous awards, including the Columbia University Distinguished Service to Journalism Award and the National Association of Minority Media Executives Lawrence Young Breakthrough Award. Application Process 1) Please fill out the form below and return to the national office by email or mail. Two $1,000 fellowships will be awarded to two AAJA members to apply towards a leadership training taking place between May 2012 and December 2012. 2) Those receiving a fellowship must commit to blogging once about how your training experience has assisted in your career development. All blogs will be posted on AAJA’s website (www.aaja.org). Blogs will be due two weeks after your leadership training. 3) Write a 500-word essay on “How will the proposed training assist you in developing your leadership skills?” 4) Provide a resume and a short 40-word biography 5) Provide a description along with registration materials of the training you are interested in attending. 6) Send the application, essay, resume, and biography to the address below or by email to [email protected] Qualifications and Additional Information A) An AAJA 2012 member in good standing B) Have a minimum of five years of experience in the field of journalism C) Fellowships may be applied to training registration fees, travel, meals and hotel expenses. After fellows have been selected, recipients will be contacted by the AAJA National Office to complete additional paperwork.
