DIOCESAN MISSION ENDOWMENT GRANY Just before Christmas we were notified of the wonderful news that St. Mary’s had been awarded a grant of $25,000 to help fund our new intentional community, The Friendship Table. This grant is renewable for a second year, bringing our total award to $50,000, pending our fulfillment of several requirements from the diocese. CENTERING PRAYER WORKSHOP Saturday, January 12, 2019 10 AM – 3 PM in the Parish Hall “Centering Prayer is a discipline to foster interior transformation, initiated by God and leading, if we consent, to divine union. One’s way of seeing reality changes, which empowers one to perceive and respond to everyday life with sensitivity to the divine presence in, through and beyond everything.” Thomas Keating, Open Heart Open Mind About the Event: We will examine how Centering Prayer can deepen our relationship with God, others and ourselves. We will learn the method of Centering Prayer and how to deal with our thoughts during the prayer period. There will be two periods of Centering Prayer and a time for questions. A boxed lunch will be served. All are welcome! Included in the workshop is the opportunity to attend 6 continuing sessions and options to join a Centering Prayer to support your practice. PARISH RETREAT Due to Hurricane Florence this past September, St. Mary's annual Parish Retreat had to be rescheduled. The new dates are February 22-24, 2019 at Kanuga in Hendersonville, NC. NC CHAMBER ORCHESTRA CONCERT St. Mary's will host a concert by the North Carolina Chamber Orchestra on Saturday, January 19 at 7:30pm in the church. Music of Barber, Haydn, Morricone and Dvorak will be played with Paul Manz, Music Director and Ryan Graebert, cello soloist. Tickets are $20 or $10 (church members) and $5 (youth).
