His Excellency, The Most Reverend Glen John Provost, D.D., M.A..

Bishop of Lake Charles, announces the Ordination of

Reverend Mr. Sam Anthony “Trey” Ange III to the Sacred Order of Priest

and Mr. Samuel John Orsot to the Sacred Order of Deacon at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception The Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Joseph announce the Ordination of their Brother Alan Piper, O.P. to the Priesthood of Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 9:30 A.M. at Saint Dominic Church, 630 E Street S.W. Washington, D.C.

Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception 2017 World Day of Prayer

for Vocations

Today the Church throughout the world prays for vocations. Will you make a special effort to ask the Lord for more vocations to the priesthood and reli-gious life?

Pray for the priests who have ministered to you throughout your life, both living and dead.

Keep our parish priests in your prayers throughout the week.

Encourage your children, grandchildren, or other young people to consider a vocation as a priest or religious brother or sister.

Pray a rosary for more young men and women in our diocese to respond to God's call.

On World Day of Prayer for Vocations consider pray-ing a rosary for vocations, alone or with family and friends:

Pray the first decade that you may grow in holiness in your own vocation

Pray the second decade for all those called to marriage

Pray the third decade for those called to the permanent diaconate

Pray the fourth decade for all those called to religious life

Pray the fifth decade for all those called to the priesthood

When you take time for personal prayer at

Mass, ask God that a young man from your parish will hear the call to the priesthood or religious life, and that a young woman will hear the call to become a sister.

During mealtime, pray for vocations with your

family, and encourage your children to be open to God's call.

Pledge to pray for vocations at the interna-

tional website, invisiblemonastery.com. It was inspired by a call from the Vatican urg-ing Catholics to "organize an 'invisible mon-astery' in which many persons, day and night, are committed to continuous prayer for priestly vocations."

PRAYER FOR PRIESTLY VOCATIONS Heavenly Father, the heart of your Son was moved to pity at the sight of the crowd who appeared like sheep without a shepherd. As a further sign of that divine pity, Your Son taught that we must ask You to send workers for the harvest, because the yield is abundant but the workers are few. With confidence, we make our request. Please send, we beseech You, brave and holy priests who meet the challenges of a world that is often hostile to the message of Your Kingdom. Quickly raise up in our midst prayerful and dedicated priests who can witness to goodness, truth, and beauty through their consistent virtue, authentic teaching, and reverent worship. Kindly fill with Your grace the hearts and minds of many who would cou-rageously answer "yes." Gently inspire them to ac-cept Your call so that the lonely, the ignorant and the poor may know that Your Love for them exists, that Your Son died for their sins, and that there is hope. May Mary, the Mother of Your Son, and St. John Vi-anney, the Patron of Priests, be the holy advocates of our petition, All this we ask through our eternal high Priest, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. The Most Reverend Glen John Provost Bishop of Lake Charles
