Bishop Serratelli dedicated a $2 million, two-story addition to St Vincent Martyr School It provides six more classrooms and much-needed room for an upper-grade student population that has grown fourfold in recent years since the re-establishment of the middle-school grades The long-awaited 5,964-square-foot building, designed to “enhance the learning” of these older students, opened on schedule on the first day of the school’s 2016-17 academic year

ANNIVERSARIES
Three schools in the Diocese of Paterson celebrate anniversaries: St. Patrick School in Chatham on its 145th anniversary, DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne and Holy Spirit School in Pequannock, both celebrating their 60th anniversary. Congratulations!
Bishop dedicates $2M addition at St. Vincent Martyr School in Madison
For the past 16 months, the Diocesan Schools Office and schools in the Diocese of Paterson have been working together to renew accreditation status through AdvancED, the world’s largest community of education professionals. The three-day visit began with a presentation led by Mary D. Baier, Superintendent of Schools, Deborah Duane, Associate Superintendent, and a team of school principals. Father Peter Clarke, then principal of DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne, celebrated Mass in the Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Oratory in the Diocesan Pastoral Center.
New schoolThe Catholic Academy
of Sussex County opened its new mid-
dle school building on March 13. The state-of-the-art facility is home to more than
200 5th, 6th and 7th grade students.
Students and educators from the elementary schools and high schools in the Diocese filled St. Philip’s to capacity and beyond for the 10:30 a.m. Mass to close the year-long jubilee the universal Church celebrated.
