The following guide describes:

• The function of the Direct Current Voltage Monitor (DCVM) • What the indicator lights mean, both inside and outside the Focus cabinet. • How to automatically reset the DCVM with a power cycle. • (Authorised Service Personnel ONLY) How to LIVE reset the DCVM inside the cabinet

PLEASE NOTE: Not all Focus cabinets have a Direct Current Voltage Monitor (DCVM) installed. Contact Planet Lighting or a supplier if you are unsure. The following information relates to Focus cabinets fitted with a DCVM. What is the Direct Current Voltage Monitor (DCVM) The Direct Current Voltage Monitor (DCVM) is designed to monitor output voltage operations of the driver and indicate when there is an error. When an abnormal voltage event is detected (an ‘ERROR’), the DCVM will automatically shut OFF the affected Focus light. When is the DCVM Working The Direct Current Voltage Monitor (DCVM) begins working as soon as mains power is turned ON. The DCVM requires Mains Power to indicate its status. See below Table A: DCVM Indicator Light Status. How the DCVM Works Each Focus light has a dedicated driver and is monitored by its own DCVM. Each DCVM is monitoring and controlling the voltage output of the driver. The DCVM has a pre-programmed (built-in) range of voltages considered normal for operation. Over/under voltages that are outside of this prescribed range will trigger the DCVM to effectively shut off the Focus light. The DCVM will indicate an error (RED) with its LED Indicator Button turning red. The DCVM, will continue to keep the affected Focus light shut OFF until BOTH a) the voltage output problem is resolved, and b) the DCVM is reset. How do I determine the status of the DCVM Authorised service personnel ONLY may determine the status of the DCVM by opening the Focus cabinet and observing the DCVM Indicator / Reset Button. This Indicator Button is typically located on or close to the IP68 BOX, depending on your DCVM setup (see Table C: Examples of various DCVM layouts in Focus Cabinets). The DCVM status is described below in Table A: DCVM Indicator Light Status.

What do the DCVM Indicator Lights Mean

DANGER RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK. DO NOT open cabinet. Authorised service personnel ONLY, such as a qualified and approved electrician or electrical engineer.

The DCVM Indicator lights are located on each DCVM Reset Button. They show the status of the DCVM for that driver / Focus light. The DCVM indicator LED will display either OFF (Normal Operation) or RED (Error / Abnormal Operation). See the table below. Table A: DCVM Indicator Light Status DCVM Indicator / Reset Button

DCVM Status Description

OFF (No colour)

Normal Operation * See NOTE

The DCVM is active. No issues are detected.

! NOTE, the DCVM Indicator Button will also show OFF in the following circumstances:

● While Mains Power is OFF ● If the driver has failed

RED

Error (Abnormal Operation)

The DCVM has detected an error and the indicator light is RED. The driver and associated Focus Light is effectively shut OFF. While Mains Power is ON, the DCVM Indicator will remain RED to indicate an error with its connected driver / Focus light.

The table above shows operation with Main Power ON. The DCVM requires Mains Power to indicate its status. Note, real life colour may appear slightly different than indicated on photos.

Normal Operation

All Power Indicator Lights are ON / BLUE

Note: Power indicator lights may be green on older models and may be located under the cabinet door.

All DCVM Indicator LED Lights are OFF

Note: See Table C (page 6 )for examples of other DCVM layouts in Focus cabinets.

Abnormal Operation

Power Indicator Light is OFF (bottom right)

DCVM Indicator / Reset Button is RED (Reset #4)

*The table above shows operation with Main Power ON.

How does a power outage or power cycle of the Focus cabinet affect the DCVM and Focus light? The DCVM does not save its state when powered off for more than 60 seconds. This means a DCVM controlled light coming up from a power outage will always run a soft start – going through its usual 30 minute ramp up from 10% to 100% brightness. However, if an error is detected during ramp up, and the error is then resolved and the DCVM reset, then the DCVM will bring the Focus light up to the correct ramp level. Similarly, if a light is replaced after ramp up and then reset then the light will hard start at 100% as the powered DCVM remembers its programmed light output level. How to FULL Reset the DCVM The DCVM will FULLY reset if the Focus cabinet is powered OFF completely for more than 60secs. Powering ON the Focus cabinet AFTER a FULL reset will engage the usual 30-minute ramp up (soft start) of the Focus lights from 10% - 100% brightness. What to do if the DCVM Indicator / Reset Button keeps turning RED after resetting. It is likely the DCVM is detecting an intermittent error or continued issue with the driver output voltage or Focus light. See the Technical Support Guide.

How to LIVE Reset the DCVM (Authorised Service Personnel ONLY)

DANGER RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK. DO NOT open cabinet. Cabinet access by Authorised service personnel ONLY, such as a qualified and approved electrician or electrical engineer.

The DCVM Indicator / Reset Button for each driver / Focus light is typically located on or close to the IP68 BOX, depending on your setup. The failed light will indicate with a RED LED on its DCVM Indicator / Reset Button, as shown below. Once appropriate troubleshooting steps and procedures have been followed, push the RED DCVM Indicator / Reset button to LIVE reset the DCVM.

Right: The DCVM Indicator / Reset Button showing RED (Error). Troubleshooting and reset required.
