The IGS PDHPE department offers students a wide range of sporting opportunities to facilitate
health and wellbeing, while creating a safe place for students to be active and engaged with
their peers. Providing students with a variety of vibrant sporting opportunities, students are
encouraged to participate and enjoy these recreational activities while developing character,
building resilience, interpersonal skills and strengthening relationships.
Linked in with the sport, co-curricular and wellbeing program, students have the opportunity to
participate in weekly trainings, various scheduled sports and external competitions. For those
students wanting to progress into higher levels of competition, representing the school in both
team and individual categories, IGS participates in the All Suburbs Independant Schools Sport
Assocation (ASISSA) and Combined Independent Schools (CIS) pathway schemes.
This document is designed to inform all parents, caregivers and students about the sporting
opportunities IGS offers throughout the year and how to become involved in them. This includes
both training and representative pathways.
All trainings are signed up via the Engage Portal. IGS teams are selected and determined from
students at training, with students selected for representative pathways also developed from our
training activities. If your child in unable to attend training or is involved in a sport not included in
this document, but wishes to be nominated, please contact the PDHPE Department.

Players Code of Conduct
Any student representing IGS in Sport is a Player and must adhere to this Code of Conduct.
This document is an official set of rules and regulations for players to follow and show their
commitment to playing sport for IGS. These rules cover behavioural standards, uniform
requirements and attitude at games and training.
The rules and regulations are: 1. Players must attend all games and trainings unless a parent/guardian has informed the
PDHPE Department of the players absence. Players must notify their coach of the absence at
least 24hrs prior to the game/training, unless an unforeseen situation arises.
2. At training and games, players must wear the correct IGS uniform and have the appropriate
footwear and equipment required for their sport.
3. Students must return any borrowed uniform at the conclusion of the event. Failure to do so
may result in the student being withdrawn from future sports opportunities. If lost, a replacement
cost may also be charged to the students account.
4. Players must respect all other players, including their opposition and teammates, at all times.
Poor language will not be accepted on or off the field by any player.
5. Players should encourage each other on and off the field and always put the team first. This
means we do not yell or criticise one another when we are not playing well, make a mistake or
lose a match.
6. Players must respect their coach and manager. If behaviour is deemed inappropriate they will
be warned, if the inappropriate behaviour continues then they will be removed from the training
or match.
7. Players are not to question the decision of a referee/umpire, no matter what the
circumstances are. Officials are to be respected at all times. If players have a question they
must ask their coach.
8. If players have a query about their coach or selections then they should speak to the PDHPE
Department as soon as possible.
9. Players are to notify the coach and manager of any injuries that occurred at any training
session or game, even if it is minor.
