• Participate in the Emergency Management Team in their district
• Provide USDA Foods to Disaster organizations
• Provide congregate meals to survivors
How can schools be involved?
How soon can SFAs start feeding survivors?
•Right away but SFAs MUST contact their State Distributing Agency as soon as practical.
If a School District is asked to be the Emergency Feeding
Organization• SFA contacts their State Distributing Agency• Keep track of:
• Number of meals served• All foods used including USDA Foods• Dates of service
How to Get Schools Prepared…
• Review USDA Foods Program Disaster Manual• Have SFAs find out who their district
emergency management contacts are• Request to be added to the Emergency
Response Team in their district• Create and maintain an emergency 24/7
contact roster
