DISCOUNT MATRIX DISCOUNT MATRIX Each product and customer has a discount category assigned to it. The discount is determined by where the product and customer categories meet. The discount matrix is a 10 by 10 matrix of product and customer categories used to determine the discount. There is no scope to extend this matrix. Eg. This customer has a discount category of 1. This column is used to determine the product discounts. Any products with a discount category of 1 will have a 10 % discount, discount category of 3 will have a 5 % discount, discount category of 4 will hav a discount of 7.5%. There is no discount for products in any other discount catetory. Although this is a permanent discount, it uses the discount GL code on the product group. DISCOUNT MATRIX

Each product and customer has a discount category assigned to it. The discount is

determined by where the product and customer categories meet.

The discount matrix is a 10 by 10 matrix of product and customer categories used to

determine the discount. There is no scope to extend this matrix.

Eg. This customer has a discount category of 1. This column is used to determine the

product discounts. Any products with a discount category of 1 will have a 10 % discount,

discount category of 3 will have a 5 % discount, discount category of 4 will hav a

discount of 7.5%. There is no discount for products in any other discount catetory.

Although this is a permanent discount, it uses the discount GL code on the product

group. See the document "Pricing G/L Transactions" for more information.

In this example we have a customer who gets a 5% discount on Cakes and a 10%

discount on Pies. This customer is set to use Discount Category 1.

From the GlobalBake main menu select Customers, Customers. Display the customer

you wish to enter the discount for. On the ‘Gnrl’ (General) tab there is a Discount

Category Box.

Enter the Discount Category as 1 (shown in red) on the customer because this is the

category we will use to set up the discounts in product categories.

The first thing to do is set all the Cakes into a certain Discount Category (1) and all the

Pies into another Discount Category (3).

1. Go to Products, Finished Products.

2. Select and display a cake product.

3. Enter 1 in the Discount Cat. Box (shown in blue)

4. Repeat for all cake products.

Repeat 1-4 for all pie products using Discount Category 3 to differentiate it from the

cakes.

This customer gets the column highlighted yellow, which is 0% discount on any products

in Category 0, 2, 5-9, 10% on products in Category 1, 5% on products in Category 3 and

7.5% on products in Category 4.

This same discount category can be used for any other customers who get a 5% discount

on Cakes and a 10% discount on Pies.

In this example we have a customer who gets a 15% discount on all products.

We need to set up a Discount Category for each type of Product Discount Category.

We are going to assume that all Cakes are in Category 1, all Pies in Category 3 and all

other products in Category 0. This is already done from the previous example.

We need to add the 15% in a Debtor Discount Category, 9 as shown in the black circle in

this example. Do this to all Product Categories 0-4.

From the GlobalBake main menu select Customers, Customers. Display the customer

you wish to enter the discount for. On the ‘Gnrl’ (General) tab there is a Discount

Category Box. Enter the Discount Category as 9 on the customer because we set up the

discounts in Debtor Category 9.
