Events in South Normanton The PostMill Centre is a hub for a wide range of community and social events ranging from charity music, concerts to themed evenings. In the summer, the town gala brings the streets to life. Spread over two days (Friday 6 and Saturday 7 July), local live bands, a parade of floats, fun fair, dancers and live acts along with the customary stalls and refreshments all help to keep you entertained. Arts and Crafts in South Normanton The town boasts the PostMill, a multi-use community venue that can be used for a variety of arts activities and plays host to regular meetings of the South Normanton Amateur Dramatics Society. The centre is also home to a mosaic art project commemorating the remarkable story of the loss of HMS Hampshire in 1916 and the men from the mining communities of Derbyshire who lost their lives on board. Several artists worked alongside local secondary school students to tell stories through film and art creating a fleet of model ‘dazzle ships’, a documentary film using animation and film techniques and the mosaic itself that was installed in 2016.
